It's really to bad that Surf doesn't work YET. However, I tried to code that kind of self-adjusting TradingSystem, too and many other people, I guess. It's really hard to get that to work. Hopefully, we can suceed at that

I think the surf function would be able to work better if surf orders can close regular orders and vice -versa. Hendrick says this will be in the next version. In the mean time I have disabled it. All my losses today at surf losses. And 6 of 13 losses yesterday were surf losses as well.

It sounds like figuring out a way for phoenixsurf to function better would be the biggest benefit to this EA. I'll read about what exactly it does and see if I can come up with some ideas when I get home.

Mine are about the same. If we disable surf, the other anti-trend protections are still safearea and the safepipsdistance combo. I've started two more demos. One with a smaller safepipsminute and the other with a safearea of 30.

This might be a dumb question but how can I run more than one demo? Do I have to download strategybuilder more than once, or is there a way to run more than one demo from the same platform?

Ok, I'm getting aliitte, no ALOT to cnfused...I took your suggestion and had Strategybuilder platform up,and loaded the Phoenix, changed the mm to false, and guess what,,,I still get that error 131...It just keeps trying to open trades and spits out the error message..........I'm completely lost

I know this from personal experience. Either call them and switch it, or simply go to any other broker and just download another platform. I'm not saying fill out paperwork and open an account, just download the demo -- takes 30 seconds. www.strategybuilderfx.com has the download button front and center on their homepage. Just download it and try running phoenix on it. If it works, at least you've narrowed your problem down a bit. Start with the same settings you're trying to use now. MM= false, etc.

It all sounds that no one here is relying on Backtesting, why is that? Is that really so bad? I guess I shouldn't backtest anymore then
Hendrick, how are you testing your Phoenix, you don't always forwar-test each little detail you change, do you?

Alright, what about drinking a coffee or a beer? And then just chill down. After tomorrow or the day after you won't get these errors any more, I guess. So till then you can use you time in better ways then trying to get that EA to work!

Have you been getting positive backtest results?

The reason I'm not backtesting is because when I backtested I was in loss but from forward testing it I've been in profit.

I've also read many mixed reviews on the reliability of backtesting.

Can you post your backtesting results?

Backtesting is usually unreliable. Forwardtesting is the way to go.

Yes, if you're not in here from the beginning, it's tougher to jump in and catch up. The collaboration here is great. There are so many different combinations of options and too many demo accounts to keep track of.

There's a couple ways to do it. Either install the platform again in another folder, or download another platform from someone else. I like the other folder option best because then you can run exact side by side comparisons. If you run one platform against another from someone else, sometimes the data is a bit off and one will enter a trade and the other not.
