Is it possible to connect two different Metatrader application to the same Excel by using DDE ? How ?

MetaTrader seems to restrict the directory the application can access.
If everyone believes it, it will work.

The DDE name of the metatrader is "MT4", if its possible to change this name to something else it will be possible to do it since the excel is working well with that name and when there are 2 metatrader applications that are running at the same time the excel select only one of them.

take a HEX editor program,

this one is free and you don't have to install, just run it.
If you open the terminal.exe file in the MT4 root directory with the HEX editor and do a search for MT4 you will find 7 instances. Simply change MT4 to MT1 and the DDE server name will change to MT1. In Excel you just use ='MT1'|BID!EURUSD for example. I can not take credit for this as it was passed to me thru another conversation, but I think it is ok to share.

I have tried to use xvi32 editor to search terminal.exe in the Interbank FX folder but found only one “MT4” instance not 7. Please HELP !

I don't know what is the difference but I found 7.

I have not tried the actual editing process.
I did open about 7 copies of Terminal.EXE with a Hex editor. Every copy of Terminal that had been updated to b218 had only 1 instance of MT4. Every b216, or b217 I checked had several instances, probably 7. (I'm not sure if it is the same for everyone)
So if you want to try this idea use b217 of MT4. b217 was the current version of MT4 from approximately July 3rd through August 26th, 2008.

Thanks for posting the link to a small hex editor that you don't have to install.

My currient b218 had only 1 instance of MT4. I had try to get the older version b216, or b217 but failed. Pls HELP!

I had try many brokers demo accounts but all b218
How to get b216 or b217 or pls specific the correct broker.

I think I have an old IBFX download and a WHC download. just do not update when it asks you to. Let me know if you want me to post them.

EDIT, Cannot post them they are 3.8 meg each and FF only allows 1.9m If you need them post that yo do and I will PM you.

Thanks YOU very much for both the old IBFX download & WHC download, but both still had only 1 instance of MT4. I am still looking for the older version b217 and below. Please HELP!

Just put this file (open the zip firest...) inside the Metatrader folder and rty to run it.

I think that being able to use excel to build strategies, analyze trades and execute positions is a great way of trading without having to use MQL4 and use shady EAs. What do you think?

you are exactly right my dear friend. using excels to strategise the forex indexes is an easy way without the prior knowledge of MQL. this is an easy and handy way to stratezise with the use of excels.
