Since they emigrated from PrimeXM server to their own - well, things are sliding down. And very fast : no clear entries and exits /1-2 pips slippage in total every time - I do not trade news/. Apart from that, their spreads are much worse now, live chat is useless /contact support bla-bla/ - there is something going on there, maybe LMAX is part of their history now.

Given comments on Armada server updates and troubles, I wonder:

1. What advantage does Armada have over LMAX IBs, given that LMAX in London, UK is the real deal?

I learned something interesting from a forex trader friend: he tells me that a BIG advantage
the UK brokers have over those from non-FSA jurisdictions is that FSA offers 50,000 pounds as account insurance. Some UK brokers top that to 500,000, see https://www.activtrades.com/index.as...egal_insurance .

2. Anyone with LMAX IB recent experience, care to comment?

3. With MetaQuotes going through their MQL4 to MQL5-in-drag updates, does cTrader help much, with its promised MQL4 code translation to its C# platform workable, and claimed superiority over MT4? www.spotware.com. I tried it, didn't like it. I wanted to create 6 to 9 chart windows to monitor multiple pairs (or timeframes). But cTrader won't let me save the "profile" as in MT4 (or Workspace as in TradeStation). cTrader's definition of profile is quite different. So anyway I have to re-create the 6 or 9 chart windows every time I start the platform. Also the order entry mechanism is archaic. I can't do OCO/OSO conditional orders as in TradeStation, or drag-and-drop MQL scripts like MT4 to activate complex entry/stop/exit orders. Probably explained why the cTrader threads went dead after a while.

  1. Broker/Bank cannot accept/reject/requote orders in any shape or form, unlike in the other platform. It's not possible on many levels (technically and philosophically);

athamarian: im with lmax directly - the web platform works flawlessy for me. Not sure about MT4 - i just read that they don't use the PrimeXM bridge anymore but have their own mt4 servers now. But i have never used it. If you want an IB, check out fxmtf.com - not sure whats the deal now, it used to be $20 per million, same commission as Armada. And its not a cash-back scheme like some others, where you get a monthly refund over paypal or something, its just outright better comms than standard rates. They used to be the best IB, but there are others too - check the lmax threads, maybe there are some better IBs around now.

Execution times are now 600ms to seconds + slippage on every single trade even on very calm markets.

Armada really went downhill.

As soon as my account reaches 1000 I'll move to fxmtf.com

The good old days are over and also their relationship with LMAX.

I guess things have been changing in retail forex over last year. The cTrader story is impressive,
but there are still gripes online (e.g., donnaforex) about cTrader yet not offering some great MT4 features like closing pricefunctions. In any case, things are moving ...

Try the cTrader platform at IC Markets, but note that minimum deposit is $1000 and the calculation for commission is quite different from MT4. Then move away from Armada Markets and maybe use the MT4 at IC Markets or Global Prime.

Armada Markets support is excellent and withdrawals are processed very quickly.

Armada Markets allow scalping, hedging and HFT. They allow all forms of trading including news trading.

Situation at AM is getting worse (for me): slow execution 500-600ms (ping < 50ms); high spread in E/U during London ~0.4 on average, but falls to ~0.2 in late US lol. Erratic price movements, gaps (apparently bar data does not match tick data). And already 3 times I have experienced delayed feed of up to 25s, once it has cost me because I had expected to enter market at the price I were seeing, however this price has been already long history, but AM executed at real price.. At first I thought they slipped me a few pips but nay. Possibly they playing tricks? Now I watch LMAX feed vis-a-vis to not get trapped again. Now looking for alternatives..

I already recommended FXtradeweb.com on another thread, as I moved over to these guys from AM myself - I know they use LMAX as one of their pricing feeds as well as other liquidity providers, and you can monitor their live and historical spreads on their homepage, which is pretty handy to make sure your actually getting the advertised spreads!

I run two systems (one HFT and one long term), for my scalping account execution has been pretty fast, always got filled and spreads near enough zero during London. I did look at IC markets a while back but found the commissions at FXtradeweb to be cheaper.
