Hi Keroroo and Balhana

Just discovered the whipsaw engulfing pattern few weeks ago here in FF.

I've read the link in the first post about whipsaw and traps.

Did a trade on swissy at a demand level few days ago (got BE becuz i tought price would go higher but..), due to heavy red candles i placed my initial stop below lowest low and not below that RBR demand level because a bit worried about the strength of the mome into my demand level (if approach was less heavy i would place my stop below that little demand level). Then I noticed that it could be a whipsaw engulfing pattern maybe.

When trading this kind of setup the stop should be beyond the engulfed cluster or should cover the higher high/lower low pivot? If a base like a RBR - DBD forms near the engulf of the cluster like in my screenshot we should treat it as a SD level (entry at the base and stop beyond base) without the need of covering the whole pivot high-low? Was also wondering if the return to that area should happen soon after the engulf or if it is good after a while too.

About the trap i didn't understand where i should search for the entry point, and how to discern the trap from a normal directional move + his pullback. Should I look for traps where it is a clear sr zone then price drops strong into the sr zone again? As well as the whipsaw engulfing the move that breaks and return into the sr should be strong, right?

Sorry for noob questions and maybe there is already the answer in this thread, I will read it all from page 1 to 42 as soon as i have time, seems a nice place to understand how to trade SD + PA. (i need more than 1 life to read all that i want on FF and still at beginning).

Hi, Ainur,

The zone you drew, yes it's WE zone, but the PA was bearish. Price made such a strong move down towards that zone, and we don't take touch trades like that to speculate the zones to hold. That's why I called the thread "SD + PA", you trade SD zones with PA triggers.

Spend more time to understand the essence, and don't rush the trades. it's good that you started with SD + PA trading right from the beginning. I'm jealous

Sang, if you're reading this, I just took the same trade as you did on GBPJPY. I got in slightly earlier than you. I was thinking if you were taking the same setup when I took it, and yes, you did.

Hmmm... tought that the whipsaw engulfing was itself a PA confirmation entry, maybe it is only if the price returns at the cluster zone right after the strong engulf or soon after and not after so much price activity and with that strong drop from too far away.
