Thanks yes, its tricky to deduce whether the colour bands at 80/20 levels indicate either over trading or momentum....

This is a tough read. I think we had 5 waves on the H1, 2 -3 weeks ago.........,

The GU is resetting, the H4 is searching for a bottom at this time.........

It may retest the top again and come down again , the week and daily are still long for now............look for entries using BBS..............

You are correct, stochastics can stay up there forever sometimes it seems.....................use the ADX for momentum, you either have it, or you don't, and it will come back down if you don't have momentum.........

After the fact, but last night EU - M5

BBS

sto cross - confirmed with green sto crossing the 50 line..........

ADX compression then expansion

RSIoma falling from the sky.............

Perfect setup and you could see it coming 30 plus minutes in advance............

Helpful TIP:

Always check which side of the 50 line the RSIoma is on, for buy and sell, and note which direction it is traveling.

over 50 and traveling Long is the trend - Long,

under 50 and traveling short is the trend - Short

If over 50 and pointing down , a reversal may be taking place,

If under 50 and pointing up , a reversal may be taking place,

Always confirm with lower TF's............

Taking a stab at the AudUsd right now even though it's looking a bit toppy. 1H just came out of a BBS crossing 50 with ADX powering up, 15M is still glued to the top and has a nice trendline for entries. 5M looks like it will take off any minute now. Got a tight stop in place so if it doesn't work out, no biggie.

Looks good, black 8,3,3 cross overs on the green sto and then if you waited for the sto cross to develop a bit more , that was a great trade downward.........

Thanks for taking the time with this..

Out of interest to what extent would it be OK to focus only on the M5?

Or is best to always take a look at higher TFs (Day, H4 etc.) to deduce divergence at M5 and trade the direction..?

It 'would be ok', we're all grownups here and it's your money and your plan

HOWEVER :
a retrace on the, say, M15 trend (M15 shows rising ADX, then dropping ADX on the retrace to prepare for the next leg) will show a rising ADX on the M5, because on the M5, this m15 retrace shows up as a trend. Study a load of charts and decide for yourself : is the number of pips I can grab on M15 retraces worth taking the risk to trade against the higher trend? You'd have to stay more alert and be satisfied with smaller profits per 'retrace-trade', but why not if you can make it work?

Give it a try on demo and see what you gain from 100 of these retraces vs 100 of trades 'with the trend', then decide what you want to do.
