Spain: January recorded the smallest increase in unemployment since 2007

Although January has always increased unemployment, and this month is the smallest increase since 2007. Thus, the Secretary of State for Employment, Engracia Hidalgo, recalled that in the past 5 years, the registered unemployment in January has grown by an average of 152,837 people."

Look, this is nonsense.

These figures don't tell you how many spanish people are doing jobs and taking cash in hand. Taking cash in hand for jobs in spain is common so take this stuff with a pinch of salt.

Good shout, can you see through the pr puff to see what the percentage is, is it 59% kids 27% adults?

I am both amazed and heartened by the positive spin being put on something which looks horrible. So hopefully this is positive news for Spain.

Spanish govt has been putting a positive spin on employment figures for over a year now in order to praise a labor reform that has not yet produced any positive results.. just a temporary boost to exports based on cheaper labor costs..

Unemployment is growing slower, and eventually it will become into positive growing. But working population right now is emigrating, so is this a really good data or just a mere illusion?
