So do you have a fixed pair to focuss on ... or are you looking regularely at any pair on higher timeframes to find the one with the best direction ?

Eurjpy is my favourite pair as it gives a good daily move without a big spread. I have six pairs to look at if there is no setup on Eurjpy...and yes I always check the 4hr time frame first before looking at the 15mins or 30mins.

Setup on GBPAUD not yet ready all though the 833 stoch has gone down short and turned long again. Need green stoch to turn back long and rsioma to go above 50 and also ADX expansion. This is beginning to happen now as I write.

Dear Forex Alien,

I get confused by 2 things that seem contradictory.
1) The shorter TF's are pulling the higher TF's, so we can anticipate the movements of the higher TF's by checking the lower TF's
2) Wait for all TF's to have similar ADX rising and expending or similar setups before taking a position on a lower TF's setup

Those 2 questions come to me after I tried to check where to enter trades on M1 based on M5 setups with M15 and H1 in agreement.

I get a bit confused because after seeing the signal being triggered on a M5 setup for example, I sometimes see there is no clear entry point on
M1 so I miss the entry or I get an entry very late.

I also see that when a setup is being formed on M5, I could anticipate its formation by trading of the M1 setup.

So clearly, my question is: how do you get better entries on M1 if you wait for the M5 setup to be completed? Do you then only considere fast soch 8,3,3 on M1 when it enters a new cycle in the direction of the M5 setup?

Let's look at the buy setup example below:
M5: clear buy setup on the close of the 7.30 candle, so at 7.35
M15: At 7.35, we are after the close (at 7.30) of the 7.15 candle, all indicators pointing up and ADX squeez. Buy set up on the way.
H1: at 7.35, the 7.00 candle has not closed yet. If we check the 6.00 candle, RSIOMA and slow stoch are above 80 and fast stoch ready to leave the 0-20 zone to cycle up.

M1:
- Despite a small retracement of Stoch 8,3,3, we have the buy setup after the close of the 7.30 candle, so at 7.31. At this time, the M5 setup is not completed yet because it is completed at 7.35. Shall I take the trade then and anticipate the formation of the M5 (and other higher TF's) setups?
- At 7.35, when the M5 setup is confirmed, I am a bit late for entering on M1, sometime the Adx on M1 is even heading south. Shall I then wait for the end of a retracement from the Stoch 8,3,3 and enter when it starts cycling in the direction of the M5 setup? Shall I wait for a nice new ADX rise?

In this example, the pip difference on the possible entries through M1 after the M5 setup has been completed looks almost insignificant because the market did not move that much at that time. But in a fast market the difference between anticipating M5 setup by entering on a M1 setup against waiting for the M5 setup to be formed and enter on a M1 setup afterwards or on the end of a 8,3,3 stoch retracement can be a huge pips difference.

So how should I use M1 to get a better entry?

Do you wait for candle close on higher TF's before taking signals on lower TF's?

When looking for entering on M1, do you work after confirmation or on anticipation of the M5 setup? When looking for entering on M5, do you work after confirmation or on anticipation of a M15 setup?

Are you looking at 1HR chart?
If you do you trades on M15, wouldn't be more logical to look at 1HR chart instead of 4HR?

By looking at the H4, you have a better picture for the whole day.

BBS with ALL 5 ADX expansion together, and the expansion will show you the direction of the trade is all you need, But to confirm with the Green sto direction is a plus.

The 3 windows below the charts have many little tricks to them, for now we will stay with the Basics....................

Thanks for posting........ remember price drives the indi's , not the other way around, But you can get good at reading the indi's and you can get good projections for the price action off of the indi's................

I normally don't follow the levels on the ADX, only the contraction below 15 level, for the soon to follow expansion...............and pips to be made........

Yes, this is mostly true when the pair is trending well...................

most humans don't have the patience to trade off the higher TF's, but can day trade the M5 as many are doing ...........confirm with the M1 and the M15 .....

Personally I think slow and steady is the way to go thanks for posting rglenn
