- Read PnF_Instructions.txt
If you've followed the instructions you should be able to understand and plot Point and Figure charts in Excel. You should then be able to perform simple Point and Figure analysis.
Example charts are attached.
Update 12/01/2014:
The problem with the excel file has been fixed and a new version is included in PnFv4. You should extract the rar archive and copy the experts folder into your Metatrader folder. This will copy the script ExtractHistory.ex4 into your scripts folder and a folder called Analysis into the files folder. The files folder should contain the new 000000_0000_XXXXXX_PnF.xlsm excel file and a data folder where the script will save the price histories as csv files. If there is an older file called 000000_0000_PnF.xlsm in the files folder you should delete it.
Quick Instructions
- Make sure you've copied all the files and folders into the right places as mentioned above.
- Open or Restart Metatrader.
- Open up a chart for an instrument. e.g. EURUSD M15. (M15 data is the best time frame for these charts)
- Make sure the chart contains all the data you wish to use for your PnF charts.
- From the Navigator window find ExtractHistory and double click on it. After a short time a window will pop up saying Export Complete. Click OK.
- From windows explorer navigate to Metatrader/experts/files/Analysis where Metatrader is the MT4 folder.
- Next, open 000000_0000_XXXXXX_PnF.xlsm
- If you are using the M15 data and you want to plot charts for EURUSD then the only setting you'll need to change is the Data Start Date. Data for the start date must exist in files which were extracted earlier.
- The default settings should give you most of the standard PnF charts.
- Finally click on Update and the macro will plot the charts according to the settings. After some time a window will pop up saying Import Complete. Click OK.
- Please feel free to experiment and refer to the instructions for further information about the settings.
