I would say: they don't know what the big boys are doing and how they do it. Because there is absolute no real transparency.

BTW: profitable scalping is possible.

This is actually quite contrary to what I have witnessed. In fact it is not the lack of survival instincts that gets people into trouble trading, but the lack of control of those deeply ingrained instincts and subconscious conditioning. I am not saying this in response to the OP either.

yep,

I read it in "Treading and Exchanges", that survival instant as it was used to be in our ancestors in times when human's lived in in the jungle together the ones who were more cautios would have a higher chance not getting eaten up by beasts. So practicing caution was sensible in every environment at all times to just be safe.

So thats in our jeans and we cant trade the markets unless we feel secure with a warm tip, help from strangers on message boards lists goes on but most important of all the indicators. We have to have indicators, i mean anything on our charts that shields us from a direct contact with the price, other wise we feel blinded.

Ok that's turning into a rant.

They are indoctrinated with the belief that it's necessary to lose (now) in order to win (later)
I suppose trading results significantly depend on what broker you choose. you may work out profitable strategy once time but it can be broken easily by incorrect and unsatisfying broker operation and turn you to the wrong way.
One reason is that they don't hang out here in forexfactory looking endlessly for the Holy Grail.

Not treating the market as a gamble but as an investment, and so not analyzing and trading probabilities.

No interest in knowing and studying the market thoroughly before entering the currency in the game, is one of the most common mistakes new traders.
The one reason that trumps all other reasons why traders lose is: they don't keep theire losses to 1R or less.
Persistence will get it. Consistency will keep it.
