At any rate, everyone wants to get rich quick, it is what draws many to forex trading. It will take them some time get to the actual business aspect of it. I think Owl knows these threads get a lot of hits, and it is more fun to roll the dice!

I think it's the only sensible approach for most of the forex factory clientele who seem to be trading demos or accounts with less than $1,000. They seem to come here for trash talk and arguments. What a waste of time.

Seriously it is the only way forward if you have a small account which you can afford to lose. With luck and some good judgement and money management (not the sensible kind) you could make a small fortune very quickly. Then the possibilities open up for running an account properly and actually making a living.

Bad post. To say you can make big money very quickly from a small account is way out of order. Most people here haven't a clue as you implied and I agree. I trade for a living and know you need 20k to 50k minimum if you thinking of making money from fx using sensible leverage. Depends how you want to live I guess.

Before Claudia gets bashed, I hope the bashers understand that Claudia made her statement and included the words "using sensible leverage" you would need that kind of scratch.

I admit it... I'm not sensible....

Problem is if and when someone is able to make a small fortune quickly, Why would he stop doing whats regardless if it right or wrong and eventually blowup.

I mean if people get 3 winners in a row they think have got it and start formulating their retirement, when some makes a fortune on a small account very quickly (overleverged/overtrading, its implied that something was wrong) they'll never change until they hit the wall and realize whats up.

Hey Nasir, great to hear from you, and thanks for your reply. Just as long as we know what we're doing anyway. I've done gambling, with gambling cash in my gambling pocket and I've enjoyed it. Knowing when to stop is key. Forex isn't gambling and if someone can get more than 10 - 20 straight wins and knows it, then they could turn $100 from their "gambling pocket" into several thousand in short order, maybe 20 trades? Surely worth a try once in a while?

Of course fx is gambling when can predicting the future not be gambling? Hey didn't mean to be offish in the last post just way I write sometimes.

IMHO..... there's a difference between gambling and risk. Ever notice a meteorologist "predicting" the
weather. They don't always get it right but they use their known knowledge to make a forecast
with a reasonable degree of accuracy. That's all we, as traders, can do.

BTW...... I did look at your "trade journal". You're excellent.
On the other hand, it seems like a very long and very stressful journey
to prosperity.

BTW......... after all these years most still don't get the difference from using "high" leverage
or a highly leveraged account in FX trading as opposed to say, using high leverage in real estate investing.

They are not the same. Apparently the US government cant understand that either. Or they want to give
the "edge" to the banks/themselves ?

Hey whats up.

I totally agree on what one can do in small period of time and/or in small number of trades, but the hard part is to stop. Also you can mess around with a smaller secondry account to if you can handle it mentally and not effect your main trading.

Im sorry but that's a very uninformed way of looking at it. You cannot classify Forex or any speculative business as gambling.

What you classify is the people who take part in. There are 4 main categories.

1) Investors, People who invest in long-term fundamentals etc
2) Commercials, People/Companies who use the market as a service/utility to hedge against the fluctuation in the future prices.
3) Speculators, People who speculate on future prices with the market information they have researched,tipped, came across etc.
4) Gamblers, People who trade to, trade, entertainment, thrill etc.

When you classify the whole business as gambling you just put every one in the same basket which is very wrong.

Every time a traders takes a trade its his action that classify what group he is in, every time we trade we should ask ourself if we are speculating or gambling?
