Is it possible to become a billionaire trading Forex?

I will likely trade pairs for the rest of my days. On the other hand, I'll never maintain over 7 figures in any account. I plan to take monthly profits to buy discount properties and toys. Serious folks will google the 3 bucket system. Forex is my aggressive vehicle for now. I will become a millionaire within the next 5 to 10 years. Not only do I have a 'written plan', but I'm supremely confident that all who read this has one of their own posted somewhere in their home. Make it an incredible 2014.

I think if you assume that you will become billionaire from forex is too optimistic. I am new trader, but I think that goals should be more real.

I'm quite sure that it is possible , everything is possible.
Then most important thing is to belive it and to keep learning and improve.

The first time you tryed to ride a bike, you likely busted your tail. I know I did. You learned a thing or two, got up and tryed again. Ya gotta have faith first and foremost. The only way to discover the limits of the possible is to go beyond them into the impossible. I believe most are after the big and quick money. My favorite thing about forex is I don't have to buy or sell from anyone ever. With this forex stuff, I can actually lose more trades than I win and still do awesome. happy trading to you all-

yes it's possible, let's say there is a .000000001% probability of this event occurring .....there is 7000000000 people alive on earth then 7 will become billionairs from forex.

you see, given enough sample size even the most statistically improbable event can occur.

Old post indeed. But i would like to share nonetheless.

If you have a wining strategy that gives you a 1:1 return, following would be the parameters:

Assumptions:
Starting balance: 1000 USD
Leverage (as per US regulations): 1:50
trading days in 1 year: 250
Margin call: 30% of equity

Scenario 1:
You use full actual leverage per trade
you make 1:1 everyday i.e. 100% win rate
You use 20 pip stops

Day 1 return: 20 pips at 0.5 lots = $100 or 10%
Year end return (compounded daily obviously): $22 Trillion

Scenario 2 (much more realistic):
You use half actual leverage per trade
You make 1:1 on win trades with a win rate of 50%
You use 20 pip stops

Day 1 return (assuming day 1 is win): 20 pips at 0.5 lots = $50 or 5%
Year end return (arithmetic compounding as above): approx $450,000 (subject to a deviation of $50,000 approx.)
Year 2 end return: approx. $200 million

From there on its anyone's guess.

Of course you will run into a bunch of liquidity problems along the way. Regardless of the trillion plus daily volume of Forex i assume you will not be able to get a single price for a trade worth a million or over. That depends on the spread though an can be calculated through the theoretical LVaR, depending on your assumption for the spread's distribution in the short term. I haven't done it yet. I'll do it when i get there. Hope this helps.

On paper, yes it is simple as easy to be a billionaire in forex but in reality you cannot do so unless you have very expert financial advisers and at least having millions for investment.

doubt anyone cane make consistant money at trading in the long run using simple technical analysis, I have known several hundreds of traders over the years ... almost everyone gotten washed out in the end ... that should tell you something

The Forex market is opened to all. But people who made earnings through Forex trading, in percentage ratio, there are very few of them. Trading in Forex is very hard and most traders lose their deposits - that's a fact! It's much easier to invest in professional traders through PAMM-accounts, so do other traders (invest in their co-workers).

With a martingale system and a lot of luck, yes in 5 years. but only a 3.2% chance of that happening.

And then, of course -your broker wont release the funds. because it's more profitable for them just to run off with them to a nice island somewhere secret.

In theory it's possible. In practice? As BabaYaga said above, the chance is really small.

It's great to think big, but not at the expense of thinking of the present.

Liquidity is always going to be the major issue as a 'retail' trader. However if you have a couple of millions in the bank, you can start to trade on less leverage (less risk to broker) and start to look at more proffessional tools, ie moving away from the brokers altogether. The idea is always that it is better to trade with 1:1 leverage, as the banks and major corporations do. At that point you would be dealing pretty much direct with the banks and becoming a market maker as opposed to a market follower.

Can you become a billionaire from Forex alone? i would say no, Soros was not solely Forex, he diversified, however he did make a billion in one day but that was because he had more than a billion (and was through his fund, not his personal fortune)

My honest answer is that it's not possible
