CK87, totally agree with the set up and thread. I trade only pivots and use the Gbp/JPy and Eur/Jpy pivot points to time my entry. Let me know if you want to start a thread to discuss these setups as they are happening.

Wonder if Greg is still trading. Clearly not as big movements going on so I wonder what his approach is these days.

msdrs2000, sounds like a good idea, we can at least observe different set ups and gain experience from them as they happen.

Go for it guys... A dependable 50 pip setup is as useful as a 100 pip setup.

What i've noticed is it definitely works extremely well when you identify the trending pairs. For example right now Yen weakness, Aussie weakness, both are clear trends on Monthly/weekly/daily charts

Whereas EU and GU are all choppy and all over the place, so not as good to be trading those.

this is CLEARLY, one of the most unclear threads I don't care either journal or method related here.

The ONLY reason there should or would any interest is the claim that he is trading 1M-5M LIVE (100USD-500USD per pip). It does not take even 500 words to explain what he was doing here if he was willing to do it.

Neither were live trades called. There is no reason why an amazing trader CANNOT call live trades in my opinion. "it's because I want you to learn". "everone sees everything differently". nice. the world will end tomorrow. sorry. find out for yourselves. I'm not here to give proof. but i can prove that a mcdonald's would be opened at the end of my block which it did. so i am right mostly.

very disappointing.

Why would he need to call live trades? To whom does he need to prove? Read the name of this thread. It is a JOURNAL.
Greg actually gave out ALOT more than other traders. People are just being lazy and not actually putting the necessary effort to pull out their own charts and see the setup Greg saw at the time.

You could equally claim that there is no reason why an amazing trader SHOULD call trades live. Only losers expect and ask for "live trades" because they do not truely realize that trading is a solitary business.

Ironically even if Greg did call live trades, such losers will lose their money in the long run. Why? Because they will place blind faith in his calls, oversize their position and blow their accounts when Greg is wrong on a trade.

you focus on coming across as intelligent and an above average trader more than anything else.

your english is very good. you should be an english teacher; not a trader.

you will be ignored.

Funny how when people cannot deal with the issue at hand, they resort to personal "ad hominem" attacks. That kind of attitude only reflects your success as a trader.

Why don't you just deal with the problem that you raised rather than running away from it?

From what I understand, huge part of Greg's approach is to enter with what he refers to as Compelling Momentum, which is a fast move in his predicted direction, which usually occurs near a 20/80 levels near rounds, near 20 after or 20 to an hour, near pivots, S/R. If the trade fails to immediately move into BE and continues to move in his direction, that invalidates the Compelling Momentum and therefore the trade is terminated. I see his losses are about 10 pips, and wins are 50-100, which is a good RR. Nothing is for certain in trading, and Greg's approach illustrates that. Proponents of Strict Following The System's Exact Rules to a letter, with RR and MM set in stone probably will not agree with what Greg does and call him a gambler. My opinion is that any system with exact rules can be coded into EA and there is no need for a trader then.
I would be extremely pleased if Greg posted again.

It's been a while since this thread has been inactive and that is what you will expect from some of the best threads.

After spending few years spending countless hours dissecting all of Greg's trades recorded from 2008 going down even to the 5m/15m charts,

I have noticed that Greg too evolved in his approach to the markets into trading less for higher probability trades while making the same common human mistakes at times (i.e overtrading, adding losing positions).

However it is his consistency and discipline with his backlog of experience that moves him forward.
Perhaps this is why he stressed the importance of practice while keeping your risk to a minimum.

No one can emulate and trade exactly the same way as Greg 100%. However one could apply some of his basic guidelines in identifying the highest probability opportunity to improve one's trading. The last piece of puzzle is knowing where and when to cut your losses and this will be the most difficult obstacle for most, if not all.

He also once stated that given the right opportunity and with sound money management one could turn $300 into 30k in 6 months or less. The power of compounding is there if you have a high hit rate. I was able to turn $200 into $5500 trading this approach in about a month.

After realizing that the blood sweat tears are inevitable in this game and only those with endless commitment will finally make it to the other end, this enlightenment is only the beginning for me and I want to tell Greg personally... THANK YOU

WOW..you did a great job man. I followed Greg long time ago but I gave up.As you said good trading takes sweat and blood.I am in the middle of the way.
Any points you want to share which makes our journey shorter?

Sure.

It is NOT the trading strategy or method that makes the trader profitable. The trader makes a trading strategy or method profitable.

In another words don't try to emulate someone 100% and expect to be profitable. It cannot be done.

I try to scalp all the time, so my style its prretty diffrent from greg's one, but i found this thread very inspirational. Each setup its a master class of trading. This thread is unique in the whole fòrum, I havent read annything like that: real charts, real trades over a long period of time, literally making a killing 90% of the times.

But there are a previous day high & R1 (130.5) in between CPP and R2, which was not considered as a resistance. Pretty Amazing shit!!! Now I'm going to have to study this whole thread. Obviously Greg has retired from this post and prolly from work. So it's our turn to follow in his footsteps. If anyone has anything to tell me how to understand this better I would love to hear it and make it easy for everyone to profit from such an amazing trader.

Good morning everyone.
I've read the Whole thread and i was amazed.
i would like to ask Greg a lot of questions but i can't anymore (or seems so).

Is there anyone trading with this approach?

For example: how could greg define a stall followed by a reverse in momentum and how could he differentiate it from a normal stall that will become a trend again?

There are so many examples in which greg seems to get the absolute top/bottom of the move, but how did this? Doesn't seems to have a resistance/supp over there but he understood the markets.
