Hi everyone, trying to apply Ian Copseys' HEW to various markets. Anyone watching the Nikkei 225, Are we already on our way down in a wave C.

I've stopped following the Nikkei but I do recall that in my book I suggested two alternatives, one being an expanded flat back to 18K+ from memory... So what you're looking at now, and if that scenario is right, then I suspect this will have something to do with Wave (b) of Wave (iii) going higher. Has that Wave (b) completed? Does the current corrective low and projection to any Wave (iii) have good ratios?

Thanks for the reply, Ian. I'm using the Nikkei to follow on from your measurements in the book. Your memory is spot on. We could be in wave efc of wave (B). If we are in a wave (b) of (iii) shouldn't we see an abc first. I think we've seen a and b and are now looking for wave c lower. Great spreadsheet by the way.

There was a 3-wave move in Wave (i)... See the attached two charts for monthly & daily. It suggests to me that we need a deeper correction in Wave (b) for any Wave (c) / (iii) to hold to a reasonable level below the 18,300 high so a Wave (iv) can develop for the Wave (v) to tip just above 18,300...

(Sorry - the daily data is not up to date...)

The expansion in wave EFB is about 5.7%, would you consider this to be valid?

I've done some calculations using the HEW spreadsheet.

Trend End 6995
Wave (i) 11408
Wave (ii) 7021
Wave (a) 15973
wave (c) and (iii) possibly 16909
With such a deep wave (ii),98.9% , alternation could suggest a shallow wave (iv), 23.6 - 38.2%.

Wave (b) could possibly be around the 9000 mark or below. This is allowing for a minimum projection in green wave (v) to get to the target area around 18300.

The HEW spreadsheet is a powerful tool.

Not sure why 5.7% would not be considered as an expanded flat. It a flat correction is ok then why not a minor overreach of the prior extreme? What I do get annoyed with is the running corrections of over 50% and when it "suits the count that someone wants to justify" I've seen 300%! Crazy!

On the Wave (iv), particularly in a Wave EFC when the Wave (ii) is very, very deep, alternation can be ignored. The problem is that it's a lot more difficult to identify the Wave (iv) in advance so close attention is needed in the structure of the Wave (iv) correction.

Indeed, the spreadsheet is one of the best things I created for HEW. You can work with it to see where Wave (iii) has to be for a Wave (iv) of (insert the expected Wave (iv) pullback according to alternation) for the Wave (v) to reach a target area that's applicable - whether that's a probable resistance area or Wave (III) or what you're looking for. Glad you're working it all out!

Hi,

Since a month orso I'm studing EW every evening. After a search to an EW thread @ForexFactory to publish and discuss my EW-count I found this threat.
Well...I thought I was doing well with the CEW and was reading on this threat, quit a lot posts. Well I noticed there is also a variation at the EW, the HEW and ofcourse I also tried to understand it.

But now I have the feeling I'm completely shaked and confused...and don't know what direction to go

1) I have the question which direction should I follow?! CEW or HEW...?! Well my duty is not only know which direction we can go but also where is price probably reversing...Well we want/need profit when we are trading, so that would be nice to know (as high probability) Well if that is what HEW can deliver I guess HEW is the option for me. Am I right?

2) In the video I saw that there is only an (A) en (C). But where is Wave (B) ?! I must missed something I guess?!
3) In de CEW we have 5 the count 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, A, B, C and those are all fractals in a higher degree. Is this count also valid in the HEW?
4) I understand and can recognise de CEW patterns, triangle, diagonals, zigzags, flats, triple...etc... but can I also use this info/theorie with the HEW or are we only counting a b and c (tree wave paterns)?! and are there no zigzags and flats etc..etc in the HEW. With recognizing patterns I mean wave-count 3-3-3-3-3 (trangle) and 5-3-5 etc...etc...

Well I hope IAN or somebody else ofcourse can help me a little with my questions?

I don't hope I must completely overstart the EW-theorie...

In MT4 you can draw a circle around the number with the Ellipse shape tool (or a box or a triangle) and uncheck the option of "Draw Object as Background"
