Taken a trade on FCX, bought a 2 day trade expiration ends on friday, bought the $34 call for 5c

FCX IS TRADING AT $33.31 as of right now, the option for the $34 call was cheap at 5c

I'm in nothing new this week. Been out of sorts, not really even watching the market much since last week. Building where I work owned by the USGovt, has been closed since Tuesday re: the shutdown, so I'm locked out. Enjoying the time off, going to drive over to the North coast today and see what the storms have washed up on the beach.

Meanwhile my SDS position is about to go green, if SDS can approach $40 I will do very well. No NFP tomorrow (is what I heard) and the shutdown will likely drag into next week. Debt ceiling now a hot button issue and will be the straw that breaks the donkey's (or the elephant's?) back, either way. If nothing is resolved by this time next week I'd bet the S&P will be testing 1,600. I'm watching the 10y rate and TLT.

taking a loss on the above so i'm flipping FCX and trading for a $32.50 put but i want to buy for 5c or less so a limit buy order has gone in, Its at 7c at the moment so i will have to wait until near close or until the open tomorrow.

I have to play both sides given the event-risk scenario in play: if the logjam breaks in D.C. and the threat of default goes away we could easily be at new S&P highs again this month...

Hey brother! I trade the derivative indices with nadex and this is a major indicator for bull/bear sentiment. There is an intraday chart I can get with iq feed so I will have to set that up. When I get things ironed out, I'll post a snap shot. This is new to me.

in the end i bought the lower strike price GDX weekly $25.50 for 16c, cuz the $26 may be out of range.

watching the VIX rise. If/when there is an end to game of Chicken in DC, VIX move will turn around, and I will try to catch that with st VXX puts.

The idea that the debt ceiling jack may not happen by the "deadline" has not been priced in and has really not taken hold on Wall St. - if it had you would see some 250+ pt daily drops in the DOW - that's what I'm looking for by Friday...

...coming along, but VXX options iv has the pricing up so I don't like the look of a straddle, will wait for a break and try to catch a top.

Also watching the 10y yield and TLT. The rate has been pretty flat at 2.6x for the last 3 weeks. But a credit "crisis" could see that jump short term. In the aftermath the rate would come back down. This level might be a good one for a bi-directional shot.

A Nov. long strangle, $108/$104 ($1.12/$1.17), net $2.30, could have potential for itm on either end. Maybe....

T.F. take a look at the weekly SPY, its got strong divegence to the downside, it will take time to playout but long term calls for VXX look promising, i'm waiting for iv to come down so i can buy them cheap, 6 months out
