Time analysis - "the other half of the picture"

The only thing I know is what was posted. This is a daily euro chart that has carried time points forward through mid-December 2006 by way of vertical lines.

For those curious, they begin in December 2004. I am afraid I can tell you little else.

hm it looks like important turnin points are always on the vertical lines

I would think that is what was anticipated, swings at the marked times.

Please don't get me wrong. I am a Fib Fan but I remember discussing something similar to this with an engineer who said something like...

"I could let my 5 year old daughter draw lines on a blank chart and if she drew enough of them, I guarantee a bunch of them would appear important."

If those lines on the chart are all Fib Based, then I think there would have to be multiple instances of it applied starting at various points on the chart as there doesn't SEEM to be any progression based in Fib Sequence.

Here's a small test.

Put 25 dots anywhere you like along the Horizontal Line in the attached Image. AND put your initials or mark on it too.

Glad you think it is just a bunch of lines. I have looked at this and am reasonable confident it is not just random lines placed on a chart.

But, if you would like to make judgements on something you know nothing about, it is your right.

From this statement, how can you assure me it is not Fib based?
Is it proprietary and you cannot divulge?

I believe this subject interests you quite a bit you've done a lot of work with Gains Square, Fibonacci,and aren't you a student of Delta phenomenon as well.

Bemac, the Delta Phenomenom is something that has interested me previously, but you are the first I have ran into that also knows about it, do you have a good source of info, of course if you would prefer to keep it to yourself I understand, and feel free to PM if you would prefer, love to hear your thoughts as this is some of the stuff I was alluding to when starting this thread.

If nothing else, can you let me know if it can be applied to intraday (such as 1H and 4H) timeframes or is more of a long term predictive tool?

I have spend the weekend looking into time in relation to trading, and to me there is a lot there to be discovered. I am concentrating on one pair at the moment, the EUR/JPY cross, to see if I can trade time rather than trade price if that makes sense to anyone. I can see some potential, but I can also see a lot of work

By nature im a thinker. I know what you mean by trading time rather than price. The whole price in relation to time thing has me captivated so i'll be obsessing over it for months to come until i know the subject like i know the back of my hand.

Has anyone noticed that price often pulsates in multiples of approximately 30 pips? Eur/Usd.

Also regarding Delta Phenomena. I know a trader formerly on this forum who has been using it continuously. Now he says it is not working. I can follow up if anyone is interested.

I have been studying it myself.. but only on the hourly and 4 hr charts. And only for Eur/Usd My delta counts for the hourly are not at all up to date unfortunately.

Am currently working on another project but may have time for discussion with others who are trying/using it.

Hi Lou, yes I have observed a similiar pulse rate on the EUR/JPY as well, and is something I am looking into of course. Do you own the Delta book, is it something worth purchasing/reading in your opinion? There is very little info on it other than the official speal so would love to hear first hand experiences.

Info on time based techniques seem to be few and far between as most concentrate on price (I guess that is where the money is made in most opinions), but I can't shake this niggle that time has a greater role to play than most think.

Well, first of all the Delta Phenomena book is not about the forex market. There are no references to forex at all. I do not trade stocks or commodities. So I got it as a point of interest because another trader brought Delta to my attention.

I was given information by my trader friend on how to make timing entries on the Eur/Usd pair. It was similar as to how commodities are timed in the Delta Book. I do not know how he knew where to start, or which parameters to use, but he put in hundreds of hours recording high and low points on hourly, 4 hr daily weekly and possibly longer time frames for several pairs going back to the beginning of the Euro. This is time consuming and tedious work that continues as time moves on. And there are variables to contend with as well. That is part of updating every day/week that must continue in order to continually get an average period in which there will be a high or a low in a given time frame. The assumption is that there is an oscillation to be discovered, in which a pair will be at a high point and at a low point and that those points can be predicted.

A result might be something like this (sorry still not able to post charts here)/
Let's say that the average hour that there will be a high or a low, from a certain time marker on a chart ... is for example 5 hours. As we approach the time marker plus 5 area on the chart and knowing that the previous time marker was a high, then we should be looking for a low. Now due to the hundreds/thousands of calculations that have been made over the years we are uncannily finding that even though there might be a range of several hours before the 5 hour mark or after it, that the average calculation is 5. And lo and behold, on hour 6 a low is hit and price moves up after that. Imagine that the average hour for another marker is 11 and for another 19. As these hours approach and knowing that the last marker was a high or low, there is a pattern developing. If hour 5 is a high then chances are 11 will be at a low and 19 will be at a high. (I did not say the NEXT low or high).

That is how Delta is supposed to work. Plus I am simplifying greatly.
I will check things out with my friend to see what he says.

regarding Delta Phenom, I'm sorry for not replying sooner but I took some time to get my thoughts together on this one.

I think there is something there but it feels to me that it is not hung on the correct bar if you know what I mean. Which, of course, makes it redundant.
Only my opinion and I have not given up on it but somehow I feel there is a cog missing in the geartrain which throws the revs out of sync.

Is Time a factor in the market? Absoflogginlutely ! !
How many minutes till Lunch? More importantly, How many Minutes till the session ends? I can't get away from the belief that these are crucial to a short term trader.

Intermediate Term ... Option Expiries etc...

Long Term ... Pause or reversal on interest rates/ecconomic growth.

Can we tie them all together in a cute little bundle o' pips?
Perhaps but more importantly, will the criteria still be correct next month/year?

First of all I haven't heard "Absoflogginlutely" for a long time ... very good I have seen Delta used on some fx charts, with various results, I suspect Bemac your comment on it being hung off the wrong bar could just sum up how I feel about it as well. I don't dismiss the delta concept completely as some have, however I think perhaps they have added too much complexity to what could be a simple cycle concept. I like reading my star signs as much as the next guy, but I am still not convinced the stars, planets and the moon has as much control as some claim.

Thanks greatly to Bemac and to Lou for your info on Delta, I will continue my exploration into its concepts as well as other timing concepts, Lou's mention of how the EUR "beats" to a 30 pip beat interests me, while it is not time based, it shows there is a clear rythm to the market a lot of the time.
