Read my FAQ http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=252690 before posting questions here. If you're getting no trades, you probably need a Show All for all the forex symbols.

Also note that I will not support modifications others have done, such as Reverse6_01_mod.

If you didn't get it from the first post of the thread or from one of my other posts, it might not be my EA.
Open to new approaches.

Another user had the same question. It's very basic. You were looking at the floating profit and assuming that was the amount you were ahead in terms of equity. MUST understand the difference between balance and equity and how they relate to floating profit/loss.

Thank you so much, your advices would be very much appreciated

Hello MetaCoder,

Your system looks great but I don't think I fully understand. Separate platforms for phantom and real? Does reverse mean close sell and then open buy, or visa versa, on real only. Anyway, here are my results for past 8 hours.

See first post of thread; attach only to one chart. Phantom trades are tracked internally in the EA.

I was thinking about how your hedge is imperfect due to lot sizing. If you were to implement this using 0anda's FxTrade "unit" sizing the hedge would be way more accurate, even perfect.

The gotcha with this is even 0anda uses lot sizing in their Metatrader platform. To get the more accurate unit sizing you'd have to use the FxTrade platform. They're developing a new free REST API that will give the same unit sizing as the FxTrade platform but it's not Metatrader-based.

This is what I was saying in the other thread about ditching Metatrader and rolling my own platform.

I'm just throwing it out there as food for thought.
You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike.

For this particular strategy, I don't believe the hedge needs to be perfect, just good. But thanks! It's great to know you are thinking of these details; I might need more information on this at a later date.

{quote} {quote} Ok, a bit confused, looks like I don't understand the settings for the EA. Could you please explain the following settings/or their effect in the EA or direct me to a post where you have explained them before? Many thanks. Bailout: false Slippage: 3 MinSize: 10000 StdSize: 100000 StopAlertNoTrades: false UseSmallestLot: false MaxmarginToUse: 0.5 ProfitPct: 1.0 MaxMinProfit: 1000 MaxStdProfit: 10000 For example, if I was using say 1:50 leverage, micro lots (0.01) and account balance of $1000, what should be the settings?

Hello MetaCoder,

I did ask for an explanation of certain parameters in the EA some posts ago, but got no answer from you. So again I ask, what do the following imply? Thank you.

Bailout: false
Slippage: 3
MinSize: 10000
StdSize: 100000
StopAlertNoTrades: false
UseSmallestLot: false
MaxmarginToUse: 0.5
ProfitPct: 1.0
MaxMinProfit: 1000
MaxStdProfit: 10000

I'm guessing here based on my knowledge of older MetaCoder EAs

Bailout: false // if true, EA will not trade - do not change
Slippage: 3 // acceptable slippage for each order
MinSize: 10000 // used to check whether your account is STANDARD or MINI - do not change
StdSize: 100000 // used to check whether your account is STANDARD or MINI - do not change
StopAlertNoTrades: false // flag variable used by code - do not change
UseSmallestLot: false // If true, open each trade with the smallest lot size your broker allows
MaxmarginToUse: 0.5 // Maximum percent of margin to commit to each trade
ProfitPct: 1.0 // Percentage of account profits required before the basket is automaticaly closed
MaxMinProfit: 1000 // If you have a MINI account, basket will be closed if profit is greater than this figure
MaxStdProfit: 10000 // If you have a STANDARD account, basket will be closed if profit is greater than this figure

You only need to focus on these two variables:

MaxmarginToUse - the bigger this figure, the bigger lot size of each trade (basically RISK)
ProfitPct - the bigger this figure, the longer it will take (and the higher your profits are per basket) (basically REWARD)

In my mind, playing around with these figures is balancing risk/reward.

TheMaxx, thank you very much for taking the time to explain, I am most grateful. So
1. The MaxMinProfit and MaxStdProfit figures (1000 and 10000 respectively) are in pips or dollars?
2. With regards to
MinSize: 10000 // used to check whether your account is STANDARD or MINI - do not change

StdSize: 100000 // used to check whether your account is STANDARD or MINI - do not change
Not sure this is worked out as I have opened the EA on two accounts, one with a starting balance of $1000 and the other with a starting balance of $10000, and both are displaying 'Standard Account' by the EA.
3. What does 'Last Flat Equity' imply as this figure is not changing/not different from the 'Last Flat Balance'?

Have a look at the code. It's asking your broker what the lotsize is for the current symbol. Don't worry about this, it's just MetaCoder's way of reporting whether you're using standard or mini account.

Starting balance does not affect whether your account is standard or mini. It depends what type of account your broker sets you up with. It's only relevant to the EA for the purposes of calculating margin, equity, etc. For your purposes you can ignore it.

3. What does 'Last Flat Equity' imply as this figure is not changing/not different from the 'Last Flat Balance'?
I don't know, but I don't think it makes a difference.
