Hello Kamm,

It's not an excel file, to start with!

It's all explained on post #1, what you have to do and what it's for. Follow all those steps, one by one. Check DDE Server on MT under Tools/Options/Server. Install Open Office Calc, then load the Spreadsheet but ALWAYS after MT has been run.

Thanks Panoramia for the spreadsheet. Unfortunaly, I don't use MT4 so all numbers are replaced by #ND since it don't update.
Did anyone has translated it to receive data from Interactive Broker?


If not, I will create one. To do so,

Question:
- After reviewing the video, I still don't understand how the % is calculated. I can't see the formula
- Why do we need to read the spread?
- How is determined the position on the curve

There is a way to export rectangle's distal and proximal lines from MT4 to Excel or any other software, but that requires serious programming, using DLLs and so on I amsure. If anyone out there has the knowledge to do it, I have other great ideas to make a better spreadsheet, but so far it's the way I'm doing it. It does not take much time to change it manually. I tried your Excel spreadsheet, selected the security options you mentioned and what my Excel freezed, I had to use task manager. That is what almost always happened to me when using Excel....

In that vein, to give back, I ran across your post about the spreadsheet, and think that I could help.


I think that one could automate the spreadsheet in Excel relatively easily. First modify the rectangle reader indicator to write the required info (prices at upper and lower trend lines defining SD zones) into a csv formatted file. Then add VBA macros to the Excel spreadsheet that read the file and fill in the data. When the spreadsheet is opened, the macro will read the latest data from the file.

If you don't want to modify rectangle reader this way, then write an indicator, or even a script to find the required prices by scanning the objects, and write the data to a file.

I have done this in the past to connect MT4 to a spreadsheet, and could help with both the MT4 programming and the Excel programming if you wish. I understand that OpenOffice has a Basic language that could perform the file reading function for an OO spreadsheet, but have no experience with that, but if you or others cannot get Excel to work, I could take a shot at using the OO Basic too.

It would be easier, I think, to use Excel. I have never had a problem with MT4 and Excel (2012) using WIN XP . I don't recall a problem with Excel 2007, but I may not have used it with MT4.

Wow! This would be awsome to have all the info integrated in Spreadsheet automatically. Hope you guy can find a way out! Unfortunatly, I cant help because I dont know how to program those stuff.

Instead of sending all infos to Excel, it would be better to directly plot directly the table results on a MT4 chart ...

I agree. The latest rectangle reader seems to write the percent of curve directly on the chart. That is a big help, and may negate the use of the spreadsheet. However, it still requires that you look at each chart to find the best trades. An alternate to the spreadsheet would be an indicator that read the values of every pair and wrote a table to a separate window so that one could look at all at once.

I think that could be done with Global variable commands embedded in the rectangle reader to store the info in the terminal and a single indicator to read the Globals and format the results in a table, but I have never had experience with Globals.

Hey Martin,

The formula is on many cells the spreadsheet, it's pretty basic and simple, it's just a % calculation

  1. Distance from supply's proximal line to demand's proximal line measures the number of pips between the zones
  2. If the distance is 1000 pips, then if I am 500 pips above the D1 demand level, then I am at 50%
    ​That simple

The spread is not needed, it's just information I like to have there, nothing else.


Unfortunately, the spreadsheet has been created for MT's DDE server functionality only.

Thanks for your message and your interest in the systema and the spreadsheet/indicator, I appreciate that.

I've had an idea for long, creating not a spreadsheet but an standalone indicator that can be dragged on a MT chart, which would read all that information straigtaway from the charts, no need to export CSV files or synch with an external application. I would use http://www.floatingcharts.com/ to detach that window from MT4 and drag it on a second monitor. It would be much faster and effective.

We'd not only show the information that I have now on the spreadsheet (% on D1/W1/MN charts, zone hit/broken, etc), but we'd also be able to see if the zone is fresh, non-fresh or used-up, filter zones by timeframes (auto or manual zones), as well as age of that zone. Why? We'd be able to query the indicator:

  1. Show me all new H4 zones created in the last 8 hours, or last day, that are fresh, if lower than 75% in the D1 curve

I had created a draft of how it would work, and one of the thread's members contacted me willing to help do it, but I don't know if he'll have time to do it and so on. It would be a great tool to have the way I have thought of, but it needs a good coder to get it done willing to contribute.

I understand, and think it's a great idea, but unfortunately beyond my coding capability. You seem to want the ability to perform natural language queries, and I don't do that. You need a coder familiar with that type of programming, and a language that will support it. I don't think that MLQ4 is suitable for such queries, but someone else might be able to do it despite the meager capabilities of MLQ4. The crummy IDE will greatly hamper such an undertaking. Debugging code in MLQ4 reminds me of when we coded using punched paper tape, and believe me that was no picnic.

I am willing to help within my capabilities, but this one is out of my ballpark. You might try the guys at Insanity Industries. They sometimes take on requests, and they clearly understand the SD approach.

Alfonso and I have talked about creating a new indicator to do all this and display it within MT4.
It is on my To Do list and it will get done but will probably be a few weeks away at least.

Hi,

I’ve been working on a tool which incorporates Alfonsos’ work into 1 easy readable place. I want it to show you the exact price to place all your orders and what contract size to use with all of the guess work removed. Note that this is still in draft mode. I still need to work out some details. For instance the position size calculator doesn’t take into account open positions so the position size should be smaller when in multiple trades. Also I’m sure there are things I’m missing that should be added that’s why I’m posting the current draft so we can get this to work better for everyone that is interested. So any help or input is appreciated. I am just getting started this month (yet again) and I am planning to base trades off the weekly/4H so I haven’t fully tested this so I’m sure there are other kinks to be worked out.


This is what I have so far.


Sheet 1: it asks some basic questions. The highlighted cells are the data to be processed on a different sheet. The account value and risk amount is used to calculate your position size. Trading timeframe 1 or 4 ( 1H or 4H) will change the values on page 4 for the padding and wiggle room so you don’t have to do that manually every time. The risk reward will calculate when you should move you stop to break even. There are then 3 steps to follow.


Sheet 2: is Alfonsos’ Spreadsheet where you fill in the curve values. At http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=424894

Sheet 4: is the calculation page. If you are high or low in the curve on sheet 2 and you have a high score odds enhancer from sheet 3 then all you have to do is add the proximal , distal line (from the Rectangle reader indicator on your chart) and your target price. That’s it!

Sheet 5: It will change the color of the cell to blue for buy and red for sell and it will figure out all the actual prices including wiggle room, padding and spread for entries and exits. It will calculate the position size. ** For now I would use a smaller size if you are going to have more that 1 trade open or working.** Depending what your risk reward is (from sheet 1) it will calculate the price when you should move your stop to break even. It shows where you are in the curve.


Sheet 6: is just a reminder when I have done my analysis last.

For anyone that has downloaded the spreadsheet from post 76 and your spread value isn’t calculating correctly it is because the formulas are different. I use a mini account so my formulas look like this: =DDE(“MT4”;”BID”;”EURUSDm”;1) versus =DDE(“MT4”;”BID”;”EURUSD”;1) for a standard account.


I have fixed the contract size calculations to my satisfaction (I’m sure that there is probably a better way but this is what I came up with so far). I am adding a partial profit field and some more fields so you can have up to 3 working trade data fields for each contract. When done I will have 1 workspace for mini and another for standard. Sorry for the inconvenience if this hasn’t been working properly for you. I hope to have this worked before next week.

Hi Alfonso and Joe

Have just happened upon and read through this thread and finding it very interesting. I have downloaded the spreadsheet files and all seem to be working OK
One thing though is the video that I would like to very much view has been taken down "........due to a copyright claim by Online Trading Academy".
Is there a way that it still can be viewed or is that not going to possible now?
