Hi Kara,

What do you want to know? There really is nothing much more to talk about with Cornflower, the answers are in the thread. It works, makes money but just not as fast as most people would like. Great for keeping you in a trend and useful as a tool if you want to see if the market is up, down or sideways.
where i can find the resume about this system? anyone who have a pdf version to read?

Its been a while between posts so I thought I might throw up a chart of a trade I just took, I don't normally trade this pair but it has set up pretty well, nice bounce and runaway from the 24 along with also having the pivot just above. I was able to move my S/L to B/E pretty quickly so I'm happy to just let the trade run and play out.

Hello Bob in a bottle

On this example once you saw price bounce of the 24 how did you get in before it moved away because to see it bounce of the 24 you would obviously have seen it move away from entry. Do you watch for price to bounce off the 24 and then come back so you can get in, how did you do it? Thanks for your help

Hi Chace

In this trade when I saw price move into the range around the 24 and the pivot I dropped down to the 15min chart, I have placed a yellow arrow above the candle I used for confirmation. I would not go any lower than 15 min myself but I do also use the 30 min and 1 hour to get into trades, whatever gets me in the trades and going in the right direction.

I don't know how to post charts yet but for now if you check Usd/Jpy there is a clear bias up and then we saw a Hammer off the 24ema region at about 13:00-14:00 GMT on the m30 and m15 charts, would anyone have taken this?

Hi Chace,

I don't follow the GBP/JPY so I wont comment on that pair. I have taken a 1 hour chat of the USD/JPY and blacked out all the candles after the hammer in question (I'm no artist ) to give a better picture of what you might have been seeing yesterday.
I think there are lots of things to take into consideration before placing a trade, some of the things I noticed about this set up were:

That the pull back was not clean and standalone meaning that the candles before it where next to it and the hammer was in there shadow of those candles so it was not a true pull back in my opinion. Also the candles before the hammer are "allover" the EMA's

There is a "whole number" not far above and you would be trading into that zone, the market had tested that level twice in the two hours before the hammer setup and had been rejected both times.

I could not see an easy way into this trade using the 15 or 30 min time frames

Just a few of my thoughts.

I can't see any good setups right now during the euro open so I thought I might just indulge myself and give a point or two I feel are important to keep in mind when trading.

First thing is that I try not to chase trades I wait for them to come to me. Not always easy to do but the good setups stand out and I want to be trading only these good setups.

Which leads me to the next thing... patience, everyone who's trading needs it and even more so with Cornflower. Trades wont always be there everyday and you sometimes just have to chill out and wait for the market to sort its self out.

Just something to think about.

Thanks Bob, makes sense. Definitely should look for clear setups only even if it means 3-5 trades a week at best I think.

Chace, I don't know how may pairs you follow but it can be worthwhile looking at some extra pairs. There are two theories about this that are applicable to any type of trading...

1. Trade only 1 pair until you are very good at it, know the pair well, trade the pair well.

2. Trade a system (or even better one type of setup) when there is a setup because you know it so well you will trade it well.
Yes I agree Bob, either one of the other. I personally watch 7 pairs so one setup is definitely most suited.

I think with Cornflower on the one had the best trades may be soon after the cross because you are likely getting in at the beginning, however this can obviously result in false direction and on the other hand once there is a clear trend going you are trading with a clear directional bias after seeing it move, but then again it is likely you are getting in at the end. Combining other factors and only taking the clear setups seems to be the best approach which definitely requires patience.

Have you been trading this consistently or is it just casual as I've seen you've been posting on this particular thread for over 4 years!

Hi Chace, I don't want to get to self indulgent and give everyone my life story but yes I have been trading Cornflower for a long time. As I talked about above there are times when it seems like nothing is doing and no trades are able to be taken, I do muck around with other ideas to fill in the down time between Cornflower trends. Someone said earlier in the thread that Cornflower is slow at making money and while this could be true I have found because of its simplicity that it performs well over a long period of time. Also I have a philosophy that the process of success is boring... as an example an athlete who wins a gold medal may be excited at the time that they won as they should be, but its the years and years of training, getting up early, eating correctly that nobody sees which lead to the success, its not by chance. In that way success could be considered boring

That's useful to know Bob, I guess patience really is a virtue when it comes to trading. The likelyhood of each pullback being successful after the 24-72 cross becomes less and less likely so it is probably best to just trade the first pullback and then any subsequent pullbacks to the emas should only be taken if it is a very obvious potential reversal point or you see a hammer or something.
I have been watching the USD/JPY this morning and would like to post 2 charts, the first one is 5 minutes before the close of the candle and the 2nd chart is just after the hour rolled over and a new hot candle is formed. It really show a great example of why I wait for candles to close before placing a trade, the whole picture changed in 5 minutes. I know this maybe a basic of trading buts important to get it right!
