So, I'd be grateful, indeed it would be useful, if you could talk us through a typical top down analysis, what you look for in honing in on the particular instrument for the particular day, to trade on the M1, eventually. Are there rules such as looking for longs on the M1 only if Price is in a HTF demand zone for e.g. that kind of thing...

No problem. I have 4 x 27" monitors but only use 2 purely for scalping EU and 1 for USDX. I would use all 4 monitors if scalping GU as well.

Screen 1 = USDX (2 time frames) (H1 and M15 mostly but do flick them around, sometimes H4 & M30)
Screen 2 = EU (H1 + M15), sometimes H4 & M30)
Screen 3 = EU (M5 + M1) also used for execution.

This setup is probably overkill, but going over my past results I tend to trade EU better than GU overall so currently focusing 100% on this pair for lower time frame scalps.

Here are the 2 x EU screens. Of course I always try to take the lead from the higher time frames and will then look for low risk scalp entries on the right screen (M5/M1).
