I cannot reconstruct this error, it works on my terminal. The only error I see is that a new order is placed if one has been filled. This should be placed when an open order is closed. I will correct it.

RolfW,

You should code EA this way, Any opened order that is within 15 pips above or below a price level should be counted as order at that price level. That will prevent your error above.

I did backtest on EURUSD and GBPUSD pairs. Account is blown even if I use super big capital with minimum lot size. So I think that should be improper operation of EA. And I can see here you guys are working on it to fix the EA.

Here is an update with grid painting (enable display of object descriptions, disable showing orders in MT4), and a fix for TP and order refill.
Backtest is rather slow and probably blow off will occur as well since manual intervention which can happen from time to time cannot be backtested.

EA should place total 22 pending orders instead of 20 pending orders.
Another thing is that sometimes market is very close to a price level, we won't able to place pending order. EA needs to check such case and place market order instead of pending order.

I assume this is the problem. If you don't mind I will also include level numbers in the comment so any tracking is easier.

Update. Orders should be placed now correctly incl market orders for levels near market price.
Levels are also shown in trade comment. Close existing orders (manually or setting EAMode=3) before placing EA.

I am still testing that system which is high risk and high reward system. This system so far is very safe if you have $25000 account. It survived a big news event this past week. Keep checking back as how the system perform next few months.

I implemented this but could not test it as I have only one position open per direction. Needs to close pending orders such as TP is set = 0 for pending orders.

Thanks again.

Could you try to manually enter a trade and see whether EA will modify TP accordingly?

This does not work as I have to enter a Magic which is not possible. I would have to extend the EA for testing but for this I need some more time.

i did hours of backtests @ home last sunday, the wipe-out is a quite frequent even since 2010 (eurusd). and i think that the most important thing this EA needs is the exit on loss. there has to be an exit when DD is deterioriating. this system needs a stoploss, to put it simple way.

take current eurusd as an example, if eu breaks up 1.33 in a few days, i'll be very keen watch this EA's DD conditions.

when 70 days zone is breached, SL instantly may be a good idea.

So far my trader explorer FishNetSystem is fully automated. I am very pleased with 42% return in less than two weeks trading.

actually, my question is very clear and fundamental to the system, when i watching the backtesting chart moving up and down. the question is: what do we do with those losing positions if the price doesn't come back in say, 3 or 4 months? These losing positions are usually account killers. we cannot leave them opened for 3 months, (not forever at all)----what do we do with these negative pos?

for the past 2 weeks, this grid system is profitable for a good reason. 70 days is about 3 month on chart. for past 3 ranging months, EU/GU have to be profitable using this contrarian EA.

but let's use another period: 2012 Oct ~ 2012 Dec, will an account survive in 2013 spring out of GU's losing positions entered in Dec 2012? i didn't test it actually, but it seems a deadlock to me.

all in all, it is one question, what do we do with those losing positions after the range is broken by trend? why do we believe they will end up profitable before account explosion?

i like this system very much, i guess we could use it aggressively when we read "ranging" in market, but the EA might need to stop trading after each big closure in profit (so that the user evaluate market again) instead of keep entering automatically. just my personal opinion. hope everything well. this EA's coding is great enough, but the fundamental question must be well answered, or at least answered.

If market broke 3 months range, something fundamental must have changed, like JPY from last Oct. to beginning this year. As a trader we must watch out and trade accordingly.

I did some extensive backtesting using Dukascopy tick-data (99.9%).
It turned out, that using last 80 bars instead of 70 is at least for EURUSD more beneficial (10% higher profit, same DD of around 35%).
Will try to backtest with other pairs.
