As I have said that abstraction isn't possible to be written using the current functions of MQL5. Maybe with some external tool like DLL it can be.
What tools are missing that a language for DLLs like C or Pascal has and mql has not? mql5 is Turing complete, so what is still missing? What tools do you need for maintaining a list of trades that are not included in mql5? We have arrays to hold the contents of the order list, we have file I/O to persist them on disk, so what is missing?

It's missing OnTrade() event handler. But on the second thought, I think it can be compensated with a very complex system of internal ticket number storing and monitoring (using OnTick()), but that's quite ineffective solution.

Thats exactly what i proposed. A full blown order tracking system that will translate it's state forth and back into the flat MT5 position system by scaling in and out as needed and the ability to associate mt5 stand-alone limit and stop orders with its "trades" as their stop loss and take profit and the ability to mark these "trades" as closed and also cancel the opposing order (OCO) when they are triggered.

This all can happen in onTick(), it just has to check for changes in position size and then see which order caused them and change it's internal lists accordingly.

This also could be combined with a nice GUI to emulate old style manual same pair "hedge" trading and FIFO violation. It would also serve as a perfect tool to demonstrate to all the self proclaimed "math teachers" and other non-believers that both order systems are completely equivalent and can be translated 1:1 into each other.

Totally agree with everything that you're saying here. It's the same solution that I was trying to explain, some months back, to the folk moaning about the NFA regulations and/or how MT5 was going to screw them. No matter what rules (anti-hedge, FIFO, etc) NFA enforce, so long as any version of MT has a market order facility to add to, or subtract from, an existing net position, then even the most complex order placement strategy can be replicated using automation. Anything beyond the ability to place market orders is superfluous (with the possible exception of situations where pending orders guarantee same price fills, but market orders don't).

Why? Both of the brokers I have accounts with have assured me that MT5 is a non-starter. Already, 4% of retail FX accounts with NFA-controlled US brokers have fled to offshore alternatives. Those who remain with NFA-regulated brokers will be sitting ducks in a market populated with traders not hobbled with wrong-headed regulations. MetaQuotes has bet on the wrong horse.

The NFA will eventually change their rules back, or FX will not be a US industry.

Agree with you guys. Although a little complicated to code, it is quite feasible (and I guess I'm about half-way there so far) to write what I am calling a "virtual order manager" in MQL5 which links non-FIFO orders on the terminal with FIFO orders on the server. This would, for instance, allow two EAs to separately enter a 1 lot virtual long trade and a 1 lot virtual short trade, with no actual position registered with the broker. The most important things to consider are recovery and safe handling of internet outages and MT5 / PC restarts. See my blogpost here http://paulsfxrandomwalk.blogspot.co...r-manager.html

Heavy debate guys, would be nice if some folf from metaq would come along and shed some light.

I have a minor request id like to see if any one could transform these two indies from mt4 format to mt5.

one is a pip indicator, the other an alarm for when the price reaches a certain level. any help would be nice, since you spoke of pay, i am willing as i am not skilled to do this work.

Its hard to understand your meaning, but most programs can be converted form one language to another.However, that comes with a few caveats. Every language has a set of features unique to itself which are difficult to implement in another language. There is a huge gap between MQL4 and C#, so you should expect a tough job doing the conversion. There was a reason for choosing C# or MQL in the first place. No tools exist to help in doing the conversion, because of the reasons I have given and the unusual nature of this request.
