OK, each person is different and has different financial goals at different times (in their life).
The question of the day is: What kind of potential returns turn you on?
When answering that, please also consider... What kind of risks are you willing to take? And how long do you expect to know if your method is valid enough to continue? When is your own "stop out" level?
You don't have to answer in dollar amounts. Percentage in time or number of X return in how much time and how much loss are you willing to bear is enough.
When evaluating a system, what is "good enough" FOR YOU to say "I'm gonna try this one" or "I'm going to proceed with real $".
This question is more towards EA developers who can see back test stats immediately. However if you have a robust and statistically trackable manual method it would apply to you to.
For me personally. I don't give an EA a second look unless back tests and forward tests with demo or live money shows at least a 100% return within a year. But what I really key in is on EAs that produce over a 10x return within 6 months, with a 70% DD or less. I like to shoot for the fences. The EAs I'm testing and evaluating right now have demonstrated 50x within that time. I know most people (including myself) would say that that's unsustainable, but I look for home runs first to cash out, instead of going for 30% to 50% a year. I have conservative strategies too, but those don't turn me on.
So, what kind of returns do you look for? What kind of numbers turn you on enough to invest more time, energy and money into a strategy?
