I've also added a poll where people can register their interest and also so I have a quick view of people to look out for in the future.

I'm thinking long term with this, so even if it takes 6 months to get working, that's what I will do. It's the members that will make it work.

The lack of interest in this idea really does disturb me so.

This is my new vision: I've edited the first post.

The problem I have is keeping track of the fundamentals/ sentiment for everything 24/7. I'm thinking what would be good is to find a group of people to specialize in one specific area. Maybe a couple of people for each one. And all they would do is keep a blog on the board on their specific currency/ commodity/ stock market etc.

So maybe I'm in charge of the AUD, so all I would have to do is keep track of the AUD and anytime anything significant happens that is specifically related to the Aussie, I would just post a chart to explain the move and upload it to the board, it can be at the end of the trading session, does not have to be immediate.

So with 10 or so people doing the same thing for their relevant currencies, we get a running summary of a very large area of the market. This would be a very valuable thing if it could work. And would not take much time for each person to simply track the movements and events of just one currency or whatever. What do you think of that?

Currently I just watch basically what I can which is generally the AUD, EUR, GBP, and USD, and I miss so much action from the others as I am unable to stay on top of them. So maybe I will get a really good looking set up from the NZD/GBP but because I'm in the dark about the current happenings on the NZD I'm unable to confidently pull the trigger.

I'm interested and am surprised at the negativity towards an idea that could be helpful to anyones trading success.

Forex has always been a game where players keep their cards close to their chest and we can all understand why this is so but market intelligence is critical to understanding what is going on around us. Typically financial institutions have hundreds of traders with disciplined trading techniques and strategies based on good market intelligence and leveraged off natural customer / price maker business. However, for majority of us on FF because we are small operators we are already behind the eight ball because we are not hooked into a broker or banking and finance network so we are more likely to be trading off instinct and best guess rather than a position of knowing what is going on behind the scenes.

You see, one needs to consider economic, political, technical, capital / trade / financing flows, mood / sentiment influences and because there is an interconnectedness between markets there is a need to look beyond forex.

For me, and I suspect others, this is a monumental task and for a lone operator sitting in front of his PC at home it speaks of the need for reliable sharing of information, therefore I support the idea.

First of all, i think this idea is great; however, these people are HARD to find because now days most traders focusing on quick profit and technical analysis. Most of them who seek shortcut without fundamentally understand the FX market get wiped out even before obtain a chance to step into the realm of fundamental analysis.

You would need people not only are able to understand the news, but also able to FILTER and SHARE the news that would actually make impact to the market. On top of that, input with his own knowledge to project how the future direction will go to benefit the readers. In a way, you are also asking them to expose themselves to their false analysis within the group or even to public.

I do not see why we should not take advantage of this system to get ourselves well rounded to the global market in order to have a better edge over our trades. But I would like to point out that even we somehow get on top of each pair closely with help of the group, there is still good amount of unknown or randomness that would completely throw us off the game in a matter of minutes, or even seconds. I see where are we going with it, but still, on the risk management side of trading, with this strategy, the risk can ONLY be minimized, but NOT eliminated.

Your frustration of lack interest in this topic is understandable since only few trader committed and involved in fundamental side of the market. It is not their fault while I must admit technical analysis is earlier to get ppl's hands on for a quick start, and is able to make profit when does right...

Hi Chi, got your PM as well, will reply soon not ignoring you. I'm not frustrated so to speak, more just surprised but I think that I came across the wrong way in my initial posts. Also experienced traders are generally set in their ways.

I'm glad we're on the same page, just a couple of things though. Yes it won't be easy at first but out of all the many people out there, only need a few.

I don't really see the need for price predictions or trade calls in the reports, the only purpose is to have a controlled environment where we can track a large portion of the market with ease, to understand the current "landscape". Like you say it is only necessary to focus on what is important but even people not so confident will quickly learn, and get better with time, as it is really not that difficult. I too have much to learn in areas I'm not in the habit of tracking

I'm not trying to set something up that will necessarily be effective and useful from day 1 as it will likely take some time to get a rhythm and consistent format going, but I think in time it can grow into a very positive asset for all involved.

I'll checkout your blog links you sent me as well, I'm off to Sydney tomorrow so won't be around much until Monday but will check it out as soon as I get a minute.

hey cindy.... that's how we used to do it over on clearstation..... it was for stocks and such but the idea is the same..... we each took a sector or industry and stayed on top of it..... links and resources were shared.... we had a single 'spare' clearstation username that we all logged into where we kept our designated 'paper' portfolio's that each of us could see.... each of us could modify our designated sector/industry buys/sells in the portfolio.... it really spread out the work.... along with becoming familiar with other live traders tactics....

it would be similar to say a number of people being assigned a pair or pairs and each having trade access to the samedemo account.... with each person trading their designated pair/pairs only....

sadly when clearstation shut down, and most of us lost touch......

if you did not want to risk the ff multiple username rule, you could set up the ' community username' up at forexrazor....h

Forexrazor thanks Hayseed, will have a look. So you had the same kind of idea with your group good stuff. Do you still trade stocks?

Can you imagine a bank where one person is in charge of assessing assimilating and acting on the information flow? lol ludicrous, although people trading techs or just one or two pairs wouldn't struggle so much. I'm keen to take my trading strategy to new heights, I just don't think I can do it alone.

hey cindy.... actually it was not my idea but someone else, dee was her username..... she and some of her friends started the group.... it just kinda grew ..... my sector was biotechs.... most of us ran esignal, metastock pro and a few other such programs....

yes I still trade stocks and options every day.....h

Interesting topic. Not sure how much traction this will get because I think it'll be extremely difficult to execute, but if it ever takes off, I would be interested in tackling GBP/JPY. I was an economics major in college, think I have a good understanding of the "fundamentals", and am an extremely technical trader with several years of experience.

Thanks smash, maybe a little bit of work to get going, but not really all that difficult. The way I see it is I do this myself everyday and have talked to a few others who do the same. It's as simple as copying and pasting really. If people can't keep the commitment, then that's fine also, there are many more out there who will. Just need to find them first.

Thanks for your interest, it's not so much every different pair we're looking to tackle but every individual currency. So for example maybe you would like to track GBP and JPY rather than the GBP/JPY. Much more efficient that way, if you're genuinely interested shoot me a PM some time.

No problem Cindy. I'm very passionate about this stuff and I figure having to talk about or analyze it day in, day out would only help my understanding of things.

With that said, the ONLY currency pair I trade is GBP/JPY, and I do not track other pairs. I hardly even make a point to follow GBP or JPY news, I just trade them by what I see on the charts... so given that, I probably would not be suited to track just GBP or just JPY... and even moreso because I'm in the United States haha.

However, I think I am perfectly suited to track US stockmarkets -- mainly S&P 500, Nasdaq, and Dow Jones. I daytrade the S&P a lot and believe I could probably do that job pretty well. I'm not sure what kind of analysis you're looking for, but if you let me know I'll bet I could do it. I've got enough time on my hands that I'm sure I can come up with something worth some value.

I'm all ears if you are serious about getting started. Just let me know. I've added you to my buddy list

I've also got another idea that goes well beyond the scope of what you are talking about here. Won't get into the details, but it involves developing an entirely new piece of trading software... something like the market has never seen before.

I guess it would be kind of similar to the idea here, except everything would be put on autopilot and not subject to discretion. And I do mean everything. But again, I think that's beyond the scope of this thread.
