Dojis and hanging man bars get stop runs by a pip or 2 and then price pops right back to where it was. Things like that.

We could say to this as a Market Makers spread. Off hours to kill the weaklings.
Not sure this is the algos we are searching for. This kinds are definately not the drivers as I see it.

I didn't describe spreads widening, fabricated spikes or bad fills. That is what market makers do. Anyway, I know what footprints algos leave. GL

Dont get me wrong. I just cant spot them.

The name "algos" and everything combined with that is very catchy and interesting subject. The main algos I understand influance the most on the market are market makers algos. The second algos I know on the market are used by speculative hedge funds. Had friends at laandan working only on them. Their piece of action is done over their brokers and banks. This is what I know. And what I heard was they are positioned based. But hard to predict their positioning. How could we really?

And what algos do? Positioning medium term or scalping into low or high liquidity? Seeing some random "funny bussines" candles working seems to me they are just right the way they are. Perhaps Im missing whole PA lecture but its hard to predict where algos are in the game and especially which kind of them are.

I'm by no means an expert on the subject. But it's my understanding that speculative algo's aren't used for position trading on any time frame. They are trades placed at an insanely fast speed that can be used to push price a short distance. These are the ones that I can see by observing price action. With spot forex not being centralized, I doubt they are position based. It was my understanding they are based more so on time and liquidity. If I'm wrong about that, I'd like to hear a better explanation of what benefit they can achieve through positioning algorithmic orders at certain levels.

Market maker algos are much more mysterious. I've read a couple articles on the subject and they're very complicated. Factors should as each individual's risk tolerance need to be included. I'd be interested in hearing any facts you unearth on the subject, especially if it comes from a source that actually does it.

Yes agreed about the algos in nano style. Im no expert either, loong way from that. But seems this algos are mainly in stocks rather than in FX. Me thinks because of liquidity. Some dark pools are mentioned and HFTs involved in the action to eat all the orders out in nano seconds and later on release it on the other end in the same nano second.

Fx should and logically is different. Relatively No liquidity problem in FX it seemz. Majors are no problem for few yards. But dont really know how big they play. So, thinking its harder to play nano algos on FX.. But I dont know..For me Its really hard to distinguish normal movement from extraordinary.

About Market Makers. Dont know anything. Just wanna be with them.

The 3088 to 3096 weekly/monthly POC area is too magnetic at the moment


And the next stopping point comes shortly after that in the 3045 to 3024 range

There is now high evidence, that HFT is in Forex also used. Zerohedge had some articles about this month ago.


My impression is, that since a while we do see far more often skewed triangles. There was a time when this were rare. May be a reflection of some HFT algos doing Gods work
