I have my EA that trades for me 24/5 I just monitor it to check it's doing it's job as expected and it's also interesting to see it going through big shakeups during news releases like late FOMC for example.

I like to trade during any market condition.

However mostly prefer number 3 & 4.

this very much depends on your strategy and your trading philosophy (aggressive or risk adverse).

For me, generally i won't open any new positions before any major marketing moving news come out I usually have tight stops and slippages are very common in these times. Any other times, I will open new positions.

And depending on what pair you trade in this type of (no news, price just ranging) market, you can make a lot of pips, while other traders are bored or getting stopped out. I do this AFTER London goes home, when price makes a new high or low. The chart below shows something similar, when it's ranging. But this range is a little over 100 pips. First, connect the two lows in an uptrend with a trend line. Then connect the two highs going down. Then put a horizontal line through the X. And put a vertical line through the same X. The horizontal line through the X is your stop loss. Then with the last swing low in the up trend, connect a trend line there with the next swing low. Where that line meets the vertical line, put another horizontal line there. That's your other stop loss. And the two dotted horizontal lines came from where price made a high before going back down, where the first dotted line is @ 1.69405. Then price comes back up to break through it. And did it again @ 1.70494. The dotted lines are your range. Go short once price closes below the top dotted line, after the candles you connected your trend line with. SL above the solid line. The tp is at the dotted line below. Then reverse it, and go long. And reverse it one more time, then go short. Around 300 pips on three trades in a little under 24 hours. Not bad for a "ranging" market. And it's between a 1:4 and 1:5 R:R ratio. Just some food for thought whenever price is just ranging. (Oh, almost forgot. This setup was a result of trading "after" the news). The day after, that is.

The only news I pay attention to is NFP otherwise I don't even look at it. I trade anytime I see good conditions for profit.
