Trend Runner Expert Adviser Development

Hello All,

Only because of a lot of requests am I starting this thread. I am not a believer. Maybe you can change my mind. For anyone who is new to this method, there is tons of info here:

If you are going to do this do it right.

I want to see 48-60 months of BT Data from a basket of MT4 based brokers. I would suggest at least 10. Use 4 & 5 digit brokers. Use ECN, STP & Market Makers. Use brokers who do & do not charge commissions. The more data the better. Otherwise don't even bother.

if you are interested in using a EA, FAEA or SAEA, be sure to help. Do not just sit around while others do the work.

make a list of brokers that everyone uses. get a bunch of you to do the testing. KEEP ALL RESULTS. Upload them here so everyone can view the data.

Be honest. This is not a pissing contest. Leave attitudes & pride at the door. We want to make money. Bottom line.

Forward test on as many different brokers demo for at least 90 days. Then, use real cash. Pennies of course. But see if it works.

I will be monitoring this thread. But I will be most active on the main Manual trading thread.

MAKE SURE ALL EA RELATED MATERIAL, CHATTER, CHART PICS AND RESULTS STAY ON THIS THREAD.

Has anyone got a working EA for trendrunner by Ilz as I would be interested in testing one, I don't know how to build EA but do think Ilz has a good idea.

finally paid a prograamer to build an EA, its not perfect, hence hasnt made any money in the backtest , however the drawdown over 3 years of backtesting is 2-3% , looking back at the trades , maybe manually you wouldnt have closed so many trades the EA closed.

I am little sceptical about this moving stops to breakeven after 30pips, I think everything depands on the ATR, for eg in 2009 euro ATR was running around 90pips on 4 hour charts, trying to move your stop to breakeven just meant tonnes of breakeven trades , and also sometimes the barry support and resistance can be wrong, so stops can move down too fast on the EA , therefore on many good trades we get stopped out prematurely , and on many trades just too many breakeven trades with this 30pip rule to move stop , but when markets are ranging 100 pip in 4 hours and you move your stop too fast i think its not good. still a lot of fine tuning required,

My EA is not good, i have checked it out , i need help to change input values once you change the values ,are you suppose to press load and save or are you suppose to just press ok.

Have you done any back testing on this , as I said my back test on all pairs showed a 1.5-3% drawdown over 3 years of trading. But when I eye ball the system i.e lhs i think the EA has problems , so for now i think its manual trading, also by spending too much time backtesting it messed my trading up, i.e lost some confidence in the system. In short let keep tagging along ,but be careful, i am getting a little suspect about EA's

My Trend Runner works by slightly different rules from the beginning of June. I finally gave up on MA 200 and otherwise working TS. After 30 pips is activated BE and the after 40 pips regular trailng stop. It takes time to observe the results.
