I was just wondering,the traders on this forum or other, are we employable as a trader?
If yes who will employ traders like us.

If you have to ask that question then the honest answer is NO! All skilled and proficient traders dont need any kind of employment

i will not get employed even if with goldman sachs the reason i am trading is to not have some idiot above me

Be employable... by any company. Any job that will pay the bills and pays well will do.
You will need a job to pay for your trading losses.
If you do get hired as a trader, you will make much, much more than a trade-at-home trader - OPM can make you rich. - (in addition to the fact that it's a REAL job)

Why we want to be employees if we can trade much better?

Normally employ traders are with good trading knowledge and academic background. Most probably they are not good at personal trading due to psychological matters, etc.
You guys are amazing, you are rather not employed by goldman sachs and think that people who manage OPM have psychological problems.

I guess you guys don't know how much the good traders earn when they manage other people's money - from millions to billions.

I take that anytime over doing it just by myself.

But yeah, they won't employ random people who use forexfactory. They either employ mathematicians and programmers to become quants, or they employ people who know how to do fundamental analysis. Technical analysis alone (which 99% of the threads in this forum talk about) is not very favored by the big boys. So, either study maths or accounting / economics.
Im sure Paul Tudor Jones is scouting for some new talent.

Just tell him your on FF, should seal the deal.

I absolutely agree in this statement. Trader as a fan of his job has ability to work very hard, because firstly he does it for himself. He puts into this work his soul.

Incorrect assumption
You can make a lot lot more money working for a company rather than as a private trader.
I have started at home, then got hired to be a prop trader for one company to trade stocks. Then got hired by another company to trade currencies, also as a proprietary trader. After things didn't go well at the last company, I quit and traded at home for a while. Now I'm at one of the major banks here in Canada at a brokerage backoffice (gotta have connections to get into front office, even with experience). But I can tell you, that banks do need technical analysts to analyze the charts. And I'm looking at their analysis from time to time - they're exactly as what we see on these forums. I could do a better job analyzing the charts, but unfortunately, you gotta know people to get in.

It's all about networking.

However, if you want your trading experience to be official, go work for a proprietary trading firm, they hire everybody. Otherwise, it won't look good on you resume saying that you traded from home.

May be if you have a good track record for nothing less than 3 years then may be some firms would consider to hire you as a trader but with your security deposit.

Hell yeah,

This is a very risky career.

But Trading analyst position may be a good one without any risk.
Could I keep my Micro account and do some windows, I mean trading on the side, making myself considerably richer than them.

100k a month goldman sachs job might be nice for some....... but i can't spend that much........ my preference would be 10k a month and having a carefree life....... there are plenty of amusement parks yet to see.....

don't need a desk, tie or stress...... just a iphone metatrader app......h

But at 100K, work for a year or 2 then retire never have to do anything ever again with enough money for fun for many years.

With any job you have to start at the bottom... you have to have knowledge of the markets and then you have to start a back office job, like admin, dealing with EOD settlements and then work your way up. there are not many people actually doing proprietary trading, most of them have specific jobs... if you want to be a trader you are better of starting working for a spread betting firm, small broker and then moving up and on once you get experience and make contacts in the business.

You turn up everyday at some company, professional, suited and booted clean shaven and before these people get into work and with your CV- someone will give you a job!

Brokerages can and do hire traders frequently, the catch - you need to be damn good at it. But if you are that good, wouldn't you settle to earning more by trading on your own rather than for some corp?
