Seems like a dead thread so here's an update of a chart I posted about 8 months ago......

1st pic is the one from earlier in the thread.... 2nd is the current view. Expecting a lower price for EURUSD before the rise begins again. This ties in with my expected low of near 113.xx for EURJPY....

Can price be predicted?? I believe it can....

Yes. Price respects Fibonacci retracement 38.2 & 61.8%. If you plot on daily chart, it is more obviously the price to respect those level. So this could come out several outcome with RR.

However, I am using this method to gauge the direction.

It's not that you want to predict price, but place bets based on odds, in whichever way you choose to decide what determines the odds.

I'm just now learning that you don't predict price action but you can reasonably quantify the probability of something happening based of past and current price action.

Interesting thread here

It is certainly possible to predict price movements (as well as direction, volatility, etc), but it is not necessarily easy, and in my opinion, you MUST have a THOROUGH understanding of the market's MICROstructure to begin with as well as an understanding of tape reading and order flow so you can spot and read the imbalance(s) between supply and demand.

I believe that is what it takes to predict the market. There is also one basic indicator I use, which can predict and forecast extremely well, but I'm not going to say what it is here. Most of you won't believe me anyways, so it's best not to push my luck. This is a magical indicator that I'm sure everyone here on Forex Factory has heard of and used before. It works by spotting changes in momentum, which, according to the author/developer George C. Lane, must happen before a change in direction or reversal can occur.

CONCLUSION: It IS possible to predict and accurately forecast price. Why, you ask? Simply because of historical data, which allows us to compare what has happened in the past to what is happening right now.

Yes, check out my profile. I would start with Al Brooks. Reading Price Charts Bar By Bar: The Technical Analysis of Price Action For The Serious Trader is probably the best place to start for beginning traders.

Chart is a summary of the past and we use our mind/brain (not computer) for present progressive thinking to extend the visualized chart for the near future (depend on timeframe).

Almost 3 years from my original posting in this thread and nothing has changed...except maybe some opinions as to the randomness of price... or lack of any randomness at all.

It is possible to predict price movements with consistency especially when you looking at price patterns.

But it is actually much easier to predict volatility as all markets have a cyclical flow to them...moving from periods of low to high volatility.

Alot of traders, ignore this, but when you are able to combine price patterns with volatility cycles, then you can really get some high probability trade setups with really solid RVRs.
