I've seen the term being used on a number of occasions. What does it mean/take to be a gifted trader and are there truly some if not any out there?

I have heard this term as well. As far as I am concerned, I do not really think that there is something called gifted trader exists. Traders get skilled by having experience and hard work. At the end of the day these needed to be able to make consistent profit.

It takes a lot of time and devotion to make it look like you are a gifted trader. But, I think that it all comes around hard work.
You have to be devoted, you have to learn, you have to lose in order to win. "You have to crawl before you walk!"
That's all there is to it.

I agree with you, we can transform a non-trader person to a good trader by teaching him about forex market. So it is possible that a person who has no knowledge about forex trading can become a good trader, there is no need to have some gifted abilities.

In my opinion gifted traders really exist, like gifted singers or artists. But if such traders don't educate their themselves, they will simply lose all of their talents. Everything needs constant feeding.

john arnold comes to mind. im sure there are a lot more.

edit: john key. i remember seeing him in a documentary. his superior spoke highly of his innate abilitys in "feeling" the market. oh and dont forget steve cohen, lol.

I feel the same towards me, the reason i have found forex trading and the reason am trading in the forex market all feels so special for me. There is some strong reason of my introduction to such a highly rewarding and very much potential earning field.

Everyone who trades has some nice sounding reasons why they like the occupation. For the most part, it's BS. The reason so many people like it is the same reason why so many people like to go to Vegas and put money into poker and slot machines. A successful trader looks at trading differently. He/She is trying to increase odds in his/her favor. Whether they do it by price action, technical analysis or fundamental analysis, they never "gamble". That's why successful traders are successful.

Its better to be born lucky....with the right combination of winning genes 1:10,000 kind of guys/gods....you can work yourself to death but if its not in your genetic code you cant be among the best.

you cant reproduce innate talent if you haven't got it.

That is why some of us were born to eat humble pie and kiss ass everyday...

Every person can become a trader, he or she can learn it how to trade. But there are no guarantee that they will be the very competentive tarders, will take real profits etc. I think to be a good trader you should have knowledge, but also you should be gifted. May be Iam wrong...

A nations currency value is essentially a weighted index - it is the product of many factors including monetary policy, import/export values, capital flows, investor sentiment, economic growth, equity and commodity prices and many others. GREAT traders don't simply watch price bounce around between S/R levels, creating indicators as it goes - they attempt to sum up all of these factors into a vision of what the currency may do in the future. They do this for several different currencies at once, trying to find one which is likely to go up and one which is likely to go down. To do this you need to hold many complex ideas and models in the FRONT of your mind simultaneously and rub them against each other. This is something that 99.9% of FXtards will never be capable of, no matter how hard they try - most people struggle to hold more than one idea in the front of their mind.

Trading is a work, so it can be mastered with practice. You cannot say that only gifted people will become successful in trading. You can also practice and be a good trader.

A very interesting thread. WHAT IS A GIFTED TRADER?????

The answer my friends is the gift comes from a higher power then oneself. A gifted trader is not self made in any since of the word. I am one of the few who is gifted but not because I done it myself - because I am nothing. The gift that I have is from truth, faith, believing and knowing the One who created me. It is through Him that I received the gift in becoming greater in Him - then I am in this market. And in this market I am great and gifted.

One other question:

How many of you traders are willing to give away half of your profits to a non-profit charity? Not once nor twice but each and every month? The reason I ask is because if you know it or not - that is the beginning of receiving the gift of becoming a great trader. It is covenant that must never be broken.
