I used to trade 3-4 times a week maybe even more and constantly hit my stop losses. Now after around a two month break I have started taking only few, maybe 2-3 long term trades a month and so far with great success!

Sure I can understand the need to limit the loss, but wouldn't the 2-3 trades/month put a cap on the profit..

I dont think 2,3 trades are enough for a month unless you are a swing trader or trading the price action on daily time frame. If you can get 3 good trades then the monthly target can be achieved like 15 to 20% if you are risking 5% on one trade.

It depends on what the market gives me -- I'd say on average around 6-7x a week. Once I start getting into the double digits my performance begins to suffer - not always but usually.

I think 6 to 7 times in a week is a good number if you are aiming for 40 to 50 pips per trade. You should be happy if you can manage to get like 200 pips. Do not overtrade just because you have not got good pips in a week.

I completely agree! Trading with expectations is one of the easiest ways to break an account.

There's no "good" number. You can make a living with 1 trade a month.

The pips aren't the important factor ... This is the % earned.

This is far different when 200 pips return 1% ... or 10 pips return 20% ...

So you are scalping or is it another system where you only make 2 trade per session. What is your average winning score. Are you able to win at least 3 times out of these 4 attempts?

Exactly, if the trades per month is limited to 3, you will be investing more risk per trade and should one of the trades head south, your profit margin goes bye-bye

I mostly trade on daily time frame so when a new daily candle is formed, my time of trading is at that time. But some times I also take some inter day trade on four hour or hourly chart.

I have an aim of making 100 pips every week and usually am able to reach this target most of the times with one or two trades and thus my trading frequency is not much in comparison to my starting days in the forex trading business.

My main style is swing trading but as I have some spare time during the day time so I do some inter day trades as well. Some times I also perform scalping but I like the swing trading the most.

I trade only when I see a good setup according to may trading strategy. My main method is to trade on daily time frame so with this method I get only a few trades per month. Nearly 8 - 12.

This is a great key question. First you have to really understand that it is more profitable to trade less. With this understanding take note that a trader will place an order when he or she thinks a trade will turn into a profit. Not a bad idea, but an experienced trader will only place an order when he or she has analyzed the complete risk of a trade, and fully understands the risk-reward ratio before placing an order. 02 - 03 trades per day according to my trading system.
