Well based on the fact that is a very small tf 12m chart which is good to find the intermediate moves and identify areas of continuation I see bullish diversion in your chart. Bullish diversion is a great concept to identify accumulation/distribution which you cant really see completely unless you have a really trained eye to see this on a naked chart

EUR/USD unchanged around 1.3000

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - EUR/USD is last barely below the 1.30 handle, more or less unchanged from previous weekly close Friday, off recent session lows at 1.2970, printed during the interbank pre-market. Mentioned low is 50% Fibo retrace of latest intraday up leg from Friday's lows pre-NFP at 1.29 round to Friday's fresh 9-day highs at 1.3040.

Friday's post-NFP highs were still slightly below March 25 highs at 1.3051 when Cyprus bailout deal was agreed, then followed by unfortunate comments from EU's chairman that were understood as if Cyprus case was going to be a “layout” for future EZ banking crisis. Not much of a reaction from news coming this weekend out of Portugal, while Yen keeps making new multi-year lows, also against EUR, with EUR/JPY cross above 128, highest in 3 years.

Immediate resistance to the upside for EUR/USD shows at recent session highs 1.3009, followed by Friday's highs at 1.3040, and March 25 highs at 1.3050. To the downside, nearest term support lies at recent session lows 1.2970, followed by March 08 lows/Thursday's highs/61.8% Fibo retrace of same mentioned intraday up leg at 1.2950, and Friday's lows/March 26 highs at 1.2890/8.

So mrbandwidth and EuroTraderJD if the privileged info people are piling in like this before a key report, is this a reliable indicator for trading ? Or is it too random ?

Hi Borg - I would be happy to share all I know. For news I monitor Twitter / Real Time Forex News / fxTrade News / Zero Hedge For big events Real Time Forex News often has a free link to hear an anaylist give his thoughts. They usualy say the number secs after it is released. Sometimes you can here the staff reaction in the background like ohh or YES. Since I am not the sharpest tool in the box I can tell if the number is good or bad. Twitter often has the news before most sources. Now for my long positions. As most everyone knows I trade without...

EuroTraderJD thanks for the reply on the news sources and the web radio link. Yes I remember Casey Kasem andDick Clark back when things were a lot less complicated.

Thanks for the up coming MM pdf. I was going to ask for that too.

You said that “When trading spikes you get in quick but dont forget to get out just as quick. ”

I noticed that you have Onanda for a broker. I do too. When you are trading news spikes like you did on your recent EURUSD short have you had any problems with the Oanda MT4 app or their fxTrade app freezing up and preventing you from placing or modifying an order ?
May the Forex be with you.

  1. EUR/USD dropped to 1.2962 in early Asia when USD moved higher led by USD/JPY
  2. Weekend reports indicating Portugal facing budget challenges also weighed
  3. EUR/JPY buying has lifted back to Friday closing level just under 1.3000
  4. EUR/USD supported by fading expectations Fed will scale back QE
  5. Weak EZ economy and sovereign debt issues will likely cap upside
  6. Resistance at 1.3050 Mar 25 high; break targets 38.2 of 1.3711/1.2740 @ 1.3111
  7. Support at 200-day MA at 1.2895/1.2900

Hello EuroTraderJD:

Can you tell how you how came up with those prices for your EURUSD short and long orders. It seems like an awfully narrow range and most likely to get you whip sawed.

Are you expecting a breakout from a wedge formation here ?

Thanks
