Brokers don't need the forums to know how we trade, they can just look at our orders on the dealing desk. They don't care whether you use a MA crossover, a fiblevel, pivot point, some oscillator or the latest $99 trading system that puts a green dot on your MetaTrader chart.

To be serious, no one is telling here how to make descent money off brokers. Things like "NFP and guaranteed fills" have gone a year or two ago. So brokers have nothing to fear but pickers, them they spot on the second week of trading(and put them on manual). I see that many of you call pickers "scalpers" that is a big mistake. Scalping is a talent, that very few possess. And picking is what everyone can do on a daily basis. I even know a broker that will let you trade on pre news quotes after the news have been released. Wanna know?
My point is:::::there is nothing that MMs will fear. Cos all the strategies all the systems loose at the end, unless you change your strategy with the market.

I think you are probably right that Brkrs do indeed frequent this and other forums that try to attain FF stature. I'm not sure it would be for the reasons you seem to think though.
For Marketing purposes? Yes.
Checking to see what traders want from their Brkr etc...
To ascertain popular trading strategies being used in an effort to manipulate prices to thwart them? No.
They really have no need to do so. They would have to marry your login name here with a name on their client database to even care. If they succeeded in doing that with all 10,000 + FF Members, well I guess they would deserve whatever they could get from it.
What the do care about is what their clients are doing. Are they Net Long or Net Short.
Lets take EUR/ESD.
First of all, no one is lending you millions. When you sign a client agreement it's right there in the 18 pages or so of fine legal jargon that you [as a spec trader] cannot take delivery. This is Forex. There is no delivery. You are not buying EUR. You are buying the rights to a EUR Contract with a face value of $100,000.00 US.
If Brkr "A" notices that 80% of his clients trading EUR/USD are Long, he has numerous choices at his disposal.
1) Lay part of the Bet off by getting Long EUR/USD himself at his banking institution with no or minimal spread. If he lays off the full 80%, this will leave him with the Spread he offers as a Minimum Profit.
2) Believe that the EUR/USD will decline in price by whatever means in which case, he not only makes the spread, he banks your loss.
3) Take a look at his screen to see where the majority of his clients have their TP Long Stops clustered and posiibly buy some Futures Puts at that strike.
The list goes on and on. Believe me, when it comes to my money, I am one of the most skeptical persons you will meet. Which is why I am still to this day very cautious about blurting out where my stop is. Especially to the guy on the other side of the table.
