Hi Kis,

Okay before I thought I had an EA that worked, but now it looks like it doesn't do what I want. The author is no longer on the boards and the forum is closed. I will come back to the other EA later as this is much more important. Can you help?


The attached EA you can close the orders at a specified time "OR" if the orders are in profit or loss the orders will close. One or the other but not both. It seems both can't be done. Can I have the EA so that I can close all positions at a specified time ONLY if it is at a specified profit or loss?

Example:

I want to close the 4 orders of EUR/USD at 6:00 AM if it has 100 pips profit


At 5:59AM if my trades are +100 pips it should not close
At 6:00AM if my trades are +90 it should not close.
At 6:00AM if my trades are +100 pips it should close
At 7:00AM if my trades are +100 pips it should close

If it takes even 10 hours after the time to reach the profit, the EA should still close it.

I am sorry but I have tried to ask on the boards and no one else is willing to help me. Let me know if you can make this work. Thank you soo much for all your time and hard work.

Oooh! Oooh! Ooh ooh ooh!

Well, 123 pages later means I'm not going to go expecting much, but if this does get read, there is something very simple I could use. Maybe even if the author doesn't read it, someone can point to something that does the same thing.

I use exactly one indicator, the Money Flow Index. I've been using it in a way that has been very helpful so far. Trouble is I have to keep my eyes glued to the monitors pretty much continuously, if I miss 5 minutes I might miss the one golden high probability trade of my session, possible the week.

All I need is a Money Flow Index that makes a sound when it goes beyond certain thresholds, or decreases/increases by certain amounts. Both those would be highly useful. This would be a huge load off my mind, I could get up and stroll around, cook, clean...basically, keep having a life. This would seriously save me, cumulatively, hours a day from not having to be going slowly comatose waiting for a money flow index change.

I can trade just fine without this, it's purely convenience - and it would make a huge difference, I'd trade more hours per day if I had this. Hard to exaggerate how much easier trading would be for me with this.

If you do this, I will be astonished and euphoric at being helped so much by a complete stranger. In terms of happiness created to coding time ratio, this has gotta be the highest in the thread.

I am not a coder but I had a look on the net for you and have found this, it seems to describe what you want.

I have not tried it as I don't understand the indicator, if its almost what you need then its a good starting point for someone else to work from for you.

I've tested the EA named "pip_minute_limit_close_no_magic.ex4" and so far it looks great. Can I have a few changes here.


Some features that would be nice is

0. ECN - True or False (Not sure if this feature should or could be added just a thought so it can trade ECN or non-ECN brokers)
1. Broker - Selects if the broker is 4 digit or 5 digit (Now end user will not have to input 100 pips to mean 10 pips if the broker is 5 digit)
2. Symbol Specific - To select a specific currency, if left blank it does all,
3. Magic Number - If magic number is selected it will close just want the EA, if left blank it trades all
4. Max Pip Profit - To select the highest number of pips each trade should have before it closes, if left blank then trade will continue without close in +pips
5. Max Pip Loss - To select the lowest number of pips each trade should have before it closes, if left blank then trade will continue without close on -pips

You should be able to input both if desired "Max Pip Profit" and "Max Pip Loss" If I select 100 for each feature then the order will close if the trade has +100
or -100 pips, anything inside of that the trade will not close. Or you can just select one feature and leave the other one blank

6. Hour Limit - How many hours from when the trade was opened before close as long as Max Pip (Profit and or Loss) is met
7. Minute Limit - How many minutes from when the trade was opened before close as long as Max Pip (Profit and or Loss) is met

Both Hour and Minute Limits features could be used at the same time to set a trade so you could close a trade in 1H 35M.
One feature could be left blank and 1 could be filled so you could close a trade in 6H or close a trade in 5M.

Just wanted to know if you could tell us more about yourself, why your doing this, where you from, think trust trade, etc. I understand your doing this to gain more knowledge in MT4, but for what purpose, to code your own EA's or start your own business? If you rather keep everything confident or inbox me I totally understand. Just thought I know a little bit more from the kind soul. Take care.

It should work on ECN as well. As I know only orders sending is different there. Closing is the same.

I would not add this. If you have the possibility to use fractions of pips, why to remove that? Maybe someone wants to close on 105 pips (5 digit), on 4 digit you can't fill 10.5 pips..

Well, you can set such thing now as well, you just need to fill 95 min, instead of 1H35M.

Well, I want to learn MQL4 coding first, maybe that will help me later to learn other programming languages as well. Helping here is like "Doing my Homework".
I'm also helping my friends with that site. So if I code few staff here, we will have more Scripts and EAs to upload there. Hope you don't mind, if we will upload the EA there.
Coding my own EA(profitable) and starting own business... hmm, that would be nice as well .

Just one problem, MT4 doesn't have 2M and 4M charts, which are very important for me. Let me just see if I can find a way around that limitation.

The only thing it's missing is that I can't drag around a line on the MFI box on the fly, I have to open up the options window every time to adjust it, but boy can I live with that!

I'm reluctant to talk about specific methods because I am not consistently profitable yet. But basically, I am a divergence trader who uses only the money flow index, plus a sense of price action from a couple years of practice. I'm a big, expensive, burping, walking device for visual pattern recognition. I don't use the MFI for overbought/oversold, only divergence. I look at different time frames and also watch out for fundamental announcements, though I do not try to profit off them. An important aspect of my strategy is to use currency correlations to filter out low probability trades.

I'll give occasional updates somewhere, right now I gotta go shopping. I carry my groceries home in a light pack. If I don't go for long walks every day, my mental health goes downhill very quickly. There's a whole bunch of little rituals like that which I must do in order to keep fit and well oiled. Expect more from me later, and for now I'll say this: had I not stuck with demo for a long time, I'd be broke. For anyone trying live trading, my signature has the best (albeit harsh) advice I can offer.

I am not sure if this is what it is supposed to look like. I left the "pip_limit_loss" to 0 and checked false and it keeps repeating "Close_positions GBPUSD,H1:Limit Loss: 0". If anything i would think the pip_limit_max would repeat since it has been set to true, so it is looking continuesly when to close the position. Anyways I'll send you a final message in a few days. Thanks again.
