From mediocrity to mastery

Just watching that clip shortly and i swear my problem is the opposite, i now worry about how much i could lose, instead of what's possible to earn!
I guess by saying that, it means that i actually underestimate my ability nowadays, but years of regular beatings by the markets has shaped me this way!

4:10 AM and I'm just +6 pips up. I lost the move up besides being really well positioned. I ended up getting out way too soon.

Yesterday as I said above I had to live around 7 AM. Now looking back at the charts I see that this time it worked on my favor.

If I was trading I see that I would be maybe breaking even but probably shedding some pips.

Well sometimes things unrelated to trade can screw you up but sometimes it helps.

Based on my stop loss set up it is virtually impossible for me to end this week down. My fight now is not to lose too many of what I made already while trying to increase it.

Capital protection will be ahead of gains.

Gosh I don't believe! I lost 40 pips on the way up now I lost so far 66 pips on the way down!

I was well positioned for bout moves but got out too soon.

The good news is that I'm 27 pips up on some trades in between.

I'm trading defensively and thats what is back firing.

Well I'm not gonna change right now. I'm still in capital protection mode.

Ok, 12 AM and I'm done for the day.

After losing those moves I'm kinda depressed. It could definitely be a 100 plus pip day.

Anyways it is better to lose moves than pips.

I did not mess trying to catch anything so I'm still with +27 and change.

Definitely a good week

Not a big deal so far one trade wrong 2 right but I'm still -4 pips today.

I guess the banks are close up north because of the storm so the liquidity should dry up by 10 or 11 AM.

I may stop around 10 lets see I don't want to be cot in a nasty spike due to a thin market.

Ok I'm done for the day/week.

Today I only managed to make +10 pips. But I'm over 250 for the whole week.

Awesome one of my best weeks ever. It will cover for at least one wasted week on the month of january.

The ironic side of trading is that from now on everything goes to ZERO.

All I did this week don't matter anymore. Monday I have to go log in into my brokers and start from scratch.

The only thing that last are experiences acquired.

The saying that "you are only as good as your last trade" is so true.

Despite having a awesome week, next week I can come here and lose money every day.

I love trading but to be honest the start from the scratch every monday scares me a bit

On Monday mornings just pretend Friday was the first day of your trading week. That way you a 'start the week' up already! Hopefully.

Woke up a little late today, around 3:30 AM. So far I'm up 6 pips in 2 trades. I did experienced bigger draw downs compared to profits which is dangerous.

Mondays are not my best days. The market is a little choppy in my opinion but I misinterpreted some signals. I could be easily on the 20 pip already.

Just close another trade for +9. Not a easy day, I'm up 15 but I could easily be down the same amount or even more

Ok I was very well positioned at 1.3366 but I bailed out because the took too long to develop and I was afraid of a nasty spike down.

Got +1 pip on the trade

There we go, I lost the whole move! I was so well positioned for it. What a shame.

I should be at 40 plus pips now.

Anyways I'm up 17 or so which I'm gratefull. Better to be wishing to be in a trade than wishing not being on it.

12:00 PM and I'm done for the day.

Looking back I see my position within the acceptable draw down range. What made me bail out was that price stayed too long around 1.3366. Usually when price has to go, it goes faster.

Anyways if the spike was in the opposite direction I would probably be forced out of position for - 10 pips or more which would put me close or at break even, for the day.

Well tomorrow is another day with brand new opportunities.

Not a good day so far. I'm down 26 pips in 3 trades.

I keep getting positioned right to good moves but price is hanging on too long at support. So I start to second guess myself and closing my positions.

The result is very small gains and relative big losses.

My right trade gave me 2 pips and the 2 wrongs -13 and -15 pips.

The fact is that I'm struggling to find the market direction and in consequence it delays my exits.

I'm getting hammered thats the truth.

I was able to get 4 pips back and that it.

Looking back I see that I did not close my losers fast enough. That was basically my mistake. Not that I would end up positive today but break even was a possibility.

Well tomorrow is another day. Hopefully I will trade better.

I guess I'm posting too much on threads and losing my focus . I have to correct that.

Trading sometimes can become tedious and keeping your focus for hours is not easy. I have a tendency to look over the internet or post stuff here on Forex Factory when I "think" the market is going no where.

The problem is that suddenly the market decides to go somewhere and I'm not focused enough. Usually I give pips back or miss a move in this kind of scenario.

Thas mediocrity creeping in ! Maybe the best approach would be to cut a deal with myself and exercise during my short breaks no internet at all.

I'm gonna think about it and get to a decision.

I suggest to post end of trading day.Kind of summery.Posting can be detracting.I even stopped visiting popular threads becouse I got sick of seeing too many charts by too many people.

It seems sometimes you force trades.When you see not much of movement and indecisive direction I suggest to stay out of trades.

Agreed it's probably not correct to assume the market is ever 'doing nothing'. When price isn't moving you can be sure trades are being planned and minds are turning. When the money comes back consolidation soon turns into rapid price action and as you say you need to be focused and ready at all times. If you see the quiet times as a building up of tension, like a spring compressing, before something snaps and price races off you help yourself by being aware of the potential sudden explosion that may occur. Focus is everything without it no system will work. 5-10mins of push ups/jogging on the spot/running up and down the stairs should give a massive boost of attention and focus and now you mention it I'll be watching the clock and doing something active every hour. Who says you need to sit down to trade?!

You are probably right Davit. I'm writing 3 threads now. Things that I find very interesting, and I love doing it. But I guess it is impacting my concentration.

When the market is predictable thats ok, but specially this week which I'm having some problems getting the right direction anything that impact my focus should be avoided.

I'm doing my 11:30 recap and I see some good opportunities wasted. I have no reason why I missed these trades. I may was doing something else like typing.

Thats unacceptable! Mediocrity alert going off !

I'm not trying to excuse myself and blaming it on situations but my focus may be the problem right now.

I really have to do something about it.
