Generic Breakout Version 7 [TD]

Does this EA still work? It won't open any orders even after I fill in the inputs.

I have the 8 hours of the Asian session as the range beginning and end times. And I have the trade time as the first 5 hours of the London session.

I also filled in the lot size etc.

But it never opens trades even though there are often breakouts in the first 5 hours of the London session.

Firstly, thank you! This program is awesome and has even more features than I would have considered.

Secondly, I think I found a couple of little bugs with the "MoveStopWhenRangeMultiple" functionality:

 

1. "BEven1" functionality was missing @ lines 555 and 592. I added in a copy of the "BEven" lines and it solved the problem.
2. Your "BreakEvenValue" function was calling the global variable "MoveStopwhenPrice" instead of a local variant. I changed the name throughout the function and it worked perfectly.

If I could request one addition it would be to close all open orders and cancel all pending orders at a specified time of day.

I am going to have to look up some more of your programs, I learned alot from going through your code.

I had to try 7 brokers before I found a broker where the Generic V7 EA opened trades. The brokers where it did not open trades are: MB Trading, Forex.com, FXCM, Forinvest, 2pipFixed, FXOpen, AAAFX. It finally opened a trade in my 1pipfix (ITFX Trader MT4) account in the strategy tester. I will see if it opens trades in the 1pipfix demo on VPS.

Generic EA trades very well on my demo. I hope to go live soon. Unfortunately it has a tendency to sometimes freeze/slow down my MT4 when it is running on VPS and therefore when a new day starts the range box does not always paint and breakout trades are missed. But it is my only option to use that broker because for some reason Generic EA does not work on most MT4 platforms I have tried with other brokers.

Is anybody having a problem when you use the money management? I cannot get trades when money managment is on?

However I have been haing problems getting it to trigger trade, it seldom or almost never does that. Can you please look at two examples below and let me know what I did wrong?

Your range filter looks too tight. According to the EA the box is outside the range filter.

if i just trade asian session breakout when tokyo market start, any recommend paramater setting for this EA?

I haven't been able to get the EA to execute any trades. Everything appears to be set up correctly, but i'm obviously missing a step here. Any help is a appreciated.

But I have a small problem.

The ea placed a BUY order, but didn't closed it. (it's in 67 pips loss)
Normally it must generate a sell signal at the lower edge of the box and close the buy order since "closeOnOppositeSignal=true".

I ma backtesting the EA and I have some issue when I use the "UseMultipleMoveStopOnce" function.

I've set:

SLMultiplier = 0.5

MoveStopWhenRangeMultiple = 0.5
MoveStopToMultiple = 0.5

this, as far I've understood, should set the SL level at half the range (it does it correctly) and, when reached a profit of half the range, should move the SL to BE (at half the range, so at entry point).

In the journal, while backtesting, I get the error message "order modify error 130" and the position is closed.

Could you please suggest a way to solve the issue (other than using a fixed SL/TP)?

Have to say your GBO work combines many trading styles in one, and nicely.

From your last Dec 22 post, I am assuming GBOv7 is the current one.

1. Have you considered 'expanding' this GBO EA to a Basket? Possibly less DD with
lower profits, but better R:R?

2. There are some interesting 'breakout' strategies based on basket trading, e.g.,
one by jaquemate, where he also compares with DIBS (PeterCrowns Daily Inside Bar
Breakout Strategy.) Any comments here, since results look fabulous?

I am trying to use this EA but strangely have problems with the currencies such as Eur/Jpy, Eur/Aud, Usd/Chf. I am successfully using it for example on Eur/Usd, Usd/Jpy and Gbp/Usd. I use the exact same settings. Is anyone using it on the currencies mentioned above or knows what I can do to get it working? My broker is FXPro. The box ix drawn but when the price crosses the Long or Short Entry line nothing happens.

Would like to thank you Ronald Raygun for all your work on this EA.
I have been able to get it to work due to studying the rules/commands many times.
The one thing I see is it doesn't reset each day.
Currently I have EU with both long and short orders based on the previous days range.
I set the parameters pretty clear....range of Asia...break out after Asia to trade.
But again it is currently using yesterdays range and has "pending" orders in eventho it's outside the trading times (after Asia).
Anyway to fix this?
