What about interest rates announcements or jobless reports for example?

For example I would collect data on the euro (what is being said on the euro right now) and derive some measure of the consensus.

Jay, interesting. For example, if you Google trend "FED rate cuts" you can see nobody is interested in this since April 2009. You can compare with "FED rate hike" and see in the same chart. How do you think it can be applied to rate announcements?
Mingary, which kind of data you would collect and which measurement would you like to have?

This has already been tried. Look up the Clemson study on this. Radian 6.
