Setting Stop Loss & Take Profit..

Hi ya Chamoknet

There are many different ways of going about setting your SL and TP areas when trading and it comes down to the individuals personality and what they feel comfortable with..

As you read through the thread you will see different individuals ways of setting these areas and you can find what will be of comfort and style to your own personality but here is a good starting point http://www.forexfactory.com/showthre...84#post5662084

There are many different ways, as Ramjet pointed out.

One way is to always look at clean and uncluttered charts without any fancy technical indicators, just do your usual work and indentify the most recent Support and Resistance price levels.

When you are Buyer, your SL should be below the last time Sellers agreed with Buyers, and your TP should be to follow the Buyers until they change side to become Sellers.

When you are Seller, your SL should be above the last time Buyers agreed with Sellers, and your TP should be to follow the Sellers until they change side to become Buyers.

Now you have to go to your charts and practice to read the candlestick or bar patterns and line charts as your weekend exercise.

Oh good one Davit!....you can't watch this video in Australia

Actually following on from this I met a a high roller high earner trader from a trader friend of mine ...anyone from the UK will know Canary Wharf but he owned a Penthouse suite there with a mini put put golf course and Jacuzzi on the roof...any how one of his best tips he said to us is that.... "He has to always act like a Cheetah, sitting there waiting in the bushes for hours or days ready to pounce"...and when he did he made to much excessive cash, lol

To all you newbies...be a Sniper...be patient.. wait for the shot..and hit that target....

Hi mate,

Its jut 3 trades on that statement. Cable - I added to the position after moving stop lower from initial levels - liked the setup so just a little higher volume on that one. Cad and Aussie trades as they were correlated in their moves the risk was reduced for the same move. This is why i did not really display pips made etc as would not have given a true reflection on gains.

I'm also like you - prefer to spend less time in trades..!!! - though im at the computer...lol

chat later mate. cheers

Greeting Sir,

How true is your words reminding newbie to be cautious.

I appreciate if you could help me with this trade I took yesterday.

Yellow rectangle box = resistance/support.

1st trade shorted at support and stopped out. ( Loss)

2nd Trade, I was a bit cautious [color=black]to short at Bar marked as No. 1 ? because I'm not sure it is a BEEB ? and it was rejected by resistance. I didn't take any trade there. Confused...

Hi Gibril,

Sorry did not reply your post earlier. Needed time to make weekly report for my special assignment too.

Anyway, here is my comments to GU on 6 Dec.
In your chart posted above: Candle 2 is a Bearish Outside Bar (BEOB). There is a method to trade OB which is usually a retracement entry of that OB.
There is not Pop Gun pattern because Candle 1 High is above the Candle 2 High, although there is an Inside Bar (IB) between them. You could have traded this IB breakout too.
You have your resistance zone above these candles. On my chart below, I highlighted there is CONFLUENCE of several price levels:
- Prev W Fibo 161%
- Prev D Fibo 127% ( my favourite for intraday reversal spotting)
- Prev D High
- Historical D S&R 1.6116. The Historical S&R are from the D chart (in GoldenRod colour) and the Weekly S&R are coloured in Red.

This CONFLUENCE marks a Resistance Zone which is good enough to look for Price Action to SELL.
Looking back at the H4 ‘mother bar’ which I posted. Well I can only conclude that our members knows what I meant and did not post any questions. Only you ask this. LOL.
In my opinion, a good ‘mother bar’ should have at least 3 other smaller bars within its high and low price levels. Those smaller candles only show that market consolidated and a breakout is imminent. The ‘mother bar’ high and low will give two possible breakout price levels for me to position my trades.

However, as seen my chart below, the 4th H4 candle did not close below the low of the ‘mother bar’. I was watching on M15 TF hence I posted and sounded off to be careful with that H4 closing as it is near to London Open time. We must be mindful that there are many Asian session breakout traders lurking just before LO. Smart Money ambush area, I am quite sure many traders were caught selling at that price levels seeing LH and LL plus the momentum in lower TF and did not listen to 'mother bar' say don't venture too far.
Back to your chart:

Your candle 1 is only the first test of the resistance zone, so some risk if we enter at that candle close. Being a conservative trader, I wait for a second test what I call Test and Re-Test (TRT).
The candle after no 1 is an IB and that also show a TRT on lower TF and would have provided an entry based on H1 IN Breakout. Any entry on lower TF of candle 2 would have been good.

The H1 safe entry would be that pin bar. Anyway, for swing taders, the initial SL should be above the resistance zone.
There were also several possible levels to add positions when we see potential that price will retrace back into the previous week range. This is Intra-week reversal using PA with the Previous week fibo levels 127% and 161%, and you already traded the upper shadow of the current week candle.... Shadow Trading. I think only a few members here understood when I mentioned in my post "traders in the shadow". LOL.
Hope this explains how I view GU on 6 Dec.

Regards,

Hi giBril

Let me try; we have a nice confluence in the zone 1.2850-1.2900: ema50&200, monthly pivot, strong PPA.
Price drop has stopped right in that zone. On the other hand price broke 10 ema which becomes the upper boundary for 1h TF trading scale.

Next week we have to watch 1h price action in terms of waves pattern, and look for a retest and bounce.

It would be interesting to have your analysis and plan, if you don't mind sharing it.

Thx

Kyurem

Dear Gibril,
You always make me admired of your logic analytical and absolutely exact entry points.
My question and also my problem now, how can you stay with your order (let the profit run)?
And when we should keep our target small?
I see you have unnumerous winners with almost maxium profit run!

how can you stay with your order

10 EMA ( that's the obsolute answer )

I assume there is so many question in your head now.

Tell you the truth, the answer was given in Post 320 , Post 321 ( most important to get to)

and Post 277 to Post 281 ( this is least important)

I don't see the point of repeating the same things again.

Hope it helps.

Have a nice weekends
