O.. just to start things going.. picture 1 hr.. with last 5.. 3 day mid points marked.. also not marked at lo.. 2690..was 38% of last 2... 3 day ranges..38%last week..and last 3 w and 5 week were 13 and 20 respectivelyjust below losww.. all calcus done manual so may be fault..so if there is no serious in put from others i wont be continuing this. actualy i have second thoughts about it all ready..

this is picture of 5 min chart.. current.. mond day.. 3 dat mid is 2742.. i enter at 2744.. and just closed for 15.. i had it 8 times..Oh forgot mention.. weekly mid also 2740.. my calcus could be wrong

Hi, Danc

If I am reading/guessing your posts right, you figured that previous day's 3-day midpoint can be a good S/R level for next day. Please do correct me if I've misread it. I've not paid attention to this and will do so from now on.

The way I use Frank's model is more on 3-week midpoint and range low high and 3-month midpoint and range high low to gauge over potential direction, I tend to look at daily levels as potential support/resistance for bounces or targets. And generally try to apply the principle of 2/3 period move, ie, if above the midpoint, within 2 period it would likely to reach period high/low.

That said, I have not read Frank's book so I am sure I am missing a lot of nuances. Amy would know a lot better on this and I would appreciate it if she can share some insights.

So, back to Euro, it's struggling at the 3-month midpoint of 2753 (also 3-quarterly midpoint at 2795). The week before last week it fell and close below that week's range low, so by break and extend last week it should have reached range low at 2630 but failed to do so (the low is 2660). I am guessing either it is going to rise back above 3-m midpoint and also this week's 3-week midpoint at 2807 to have a trend change, or if more bearish, the range low for this week is at 2627 & 2585. The quarterly midpoint is at 2690. So basically the current zone of range is crucial.

That's how I see it at the moment. Any comments would be more than welcome.

O.. just on first line.. i keep rolling data line on 3 day.. wit 5 days data.. ie.. tday.. monday th last tuesday.. i pay paticulat attention to the lst 3 days.. mid points.. also .38.. .50.. .618.. up and down from mid point.. i also so by hand use dynamic pivots .. 3 mth 1 mt 5 week 3 week.. and 3 days.. i look for clusters of these numbers .. around these 3 day points... In this thread Amy says u have to get a method and make it your own.. THATS what i attempted to do.. its only in the last 3 weeks i have started to realize the importance of 3 days.. my understanding of this style is only what i have taken from this thread.. AMY mainly also Ian.. and Bella gave me i clue on dynamic levels.. Ie every month it changes nso 3 mths change every month 5 weeks change every week.. etc etc..i watch gold.. euud.. cable dragon.. aussie.. /ag usd and JPY.. i also thrack.. USDX and EURX.. spose myne is a moungrel version .. of Amy.. s method.. influenced by.. Vantage.. hier lo.. Spiders Den .. Tyranc ullar?? .. and of course.. the CUBE.. with his CCis and other things.... I scalp only 15/5/1 min.. not interested in big runs.. i doubt it is any thing like Franks method.. as qu if u want..

Hi, Dan. Thanks for this info though I am not too sure about your ".38/50/618 up and down from midpoint". Did you mean measuring from the other extreme from the midpoint then to take the fib measure as the way I understand FIB is that it needs 2 point to measure in/out a FIB range. And I don't know the other users you mentioned, perhaps I could search FF for those names.

I don't know what Ian used but I had previously, before I found out Frank's thread, noticed that price, if stays above weekly pivot, is highly likely going to reach 50% and 61.8% of that week's range (using weekly R2 or S2 as 100% from weekly pivot). So it sits well with Frank's 3-timeframe range high/low of 50 and 61.8. I track mainly DXY, ES (S&P 500 emini) and Euro, also trade Cable and Aussie if the setup is right.

Look back at chart history with all the levels, the 2-period movement materialised most of the time. There are times when, on 5-day week, 5-day range is too wide and distant, 3-day range high/low got hit (as in the sense of target hit) so I am keeping an eye on both 3 and 5-day range calculations. Very often this daily timeframe range high/low can provide a bounce.

I also use other methods such as conventional FIB, median lines (pitchfork etc.) and for indicators I like RSI (quite similar to CCI, just less squiggly), Ichimoku is also good at giving an overall picture, though it is very much delayed. I like to have something that's more mathematical rather than relying on judgement to look at price, which is why I like Frank's model. Speaking of which, DXY on a 6-day week timeframe has come down from last week's 3-w high, dropping below it's 5 or 3-day mp but still below 3-w and 3-m midpoint. From a structural perspective it has not had any swing point break so has not really established a down trend.

Add: now euro has reached its range high (3-d and 5-d in the same zone) and 3-w midpoint, and 1-week 61.8. This could be resistance, but if it can stay above, then I guess it would have had a trend change. If it fails here, this could be the early week retest of 3-week midpoint.

O.. this is what i do.. and rite or wrong.. its what i do.. mid point.. take range.. up is resistance down support..i go 33.3.. 38.. 50%.. .618%.. 100%and if need be i will go further..
Ian.. as i understand has read most franks.. books.. .. has same chart program as Amy.. Sticks close to franks rules..as far as i am concerned.. Frank has too many rules.. does my head in..
3 day pivots.. and USDX.. out of last 8 days.. first 5 were support lines.. last 3 days now resistance lines.. to me says down.. Cable and EUUD.. same but in reverse.. so to me says cable and euruo going up.. matter of fact.. last 7 days EU were support lines..but all my calcus done by hand and human being factor so may be all wrong.. but i will stick with my calcus.. at this point in time..

It just suddenly came across my mind what you meant with those FIBs, it's actually the same how I see weekly pivot range (as explained in my last post) but you are looking at your 3-day range. Gotcha!

Where is Ian? Ian, if you're reading this thread, please come back posting....

USDX.. 4 hr..white lines are last 3 x 3 day mid points..prior to that were support lines..

Euro seems staying above/around the 3-w midpoint and brushed off any selling pressures so far. Will need to see if it can use this thin liquidity holiday week to bust through 2820/30 resistance level. If it can go up, next level expected would be around 2880.

Oh, I see. I used to post on some Gann matters and I still occasionally use Gann stuff. But I don't normally check Matei's site. Gann techniques are different depending on the user as everyone is exploring/trying his own understanding of Gann. That said, just checked his site and he's long on euro, but can't really tell where he thinks it would go from here.

From a supply/demand perspective, euro is finding 2830 hard to crack, also a 4/H and daily s/r level. It's also 1:1 expansion from the low.

Edit: DXY looks like bouncing off of 3-w midpoint. If euro or dxy doesn't reverse soon, this could well be the early week midpoint retest before heading to the 3-week range low (euro) or high (dxy).
