posting your thoughts and having a discussion with yourself and other traders about particular setups will help like nothing else.

that would have been a range breakout trade. price bouncing range top and bottom with momentum on higher tf down, downside break was much more favorable. when price is in range ma is pretty much useless.

your postings are always very valuable and i can learn a lot from them.

when i scanned candle after candle in my backtests i already had a "short term" trendline from h4 drawn. when price was ranging it pretty much came to the trendline and then collapsed down. i'm only beginning to grasp the importance of these lines (i'm too rookie to visualize trends without putting lines on my graph).

nonetheless you find ways to explain it much simpler. i'll try to incorporate this simplicity into my trading.

in regards to trendlines... i wouldn't be too crazy about it.

there's always several different ways to draw trendlines and no one knows if that trendline will be respected. they give you unexpected results more often than not.

there's no such thing as momentum trendline. and candles do not show you momentum behind the move. momentum can be measured only by the tools: macd, cci, rsi and so on. tdi: yellow line is equivalent to momentum measuring tool. tdi actually is a very good tool. it measures both momentum and cycle all in one.

i try not to use them as a single source to decide if i enter or not. rather as an add-on to other confluence that i see that confirm my bias.

could you give me some details how you recognize the beginning/ending of a trend?

it's a bit complicated process of identifying beginning/ending.

i use macd as momentum measuring tool. 4hr typically is where i would want to see overall direction. topping and bottoming... end of the trend typically follow with a lot of bs, but parabolic moves.

example, last week's rally on tuesday right at the session end through asia was the first red flag (low volume time). from there on, i look at divergences. not all divergences provide entry signals. you need to look at it in terms of support and resistances.

p.s. in regards to top and bottom formations. they typically hunt stops.

in any case, i wouldn't recommend picking the tops and bottoms unless you know what you're doing and prepared for couple of stop outs. stop hunts are very typical in major tops and bottoms. i never catch it in one shot and it can be very frustrating.

i think everyone that reads this thread could answer these questions correctly but saying and doing are two different things.

a problem that i thought i would never struggle with was mental dicipline when i first began trading. the reality is you need to be disciplined and not greedy and be able to stick to the rules and and implement them in your trading day in and day out. i myself admit to having this problem but i am slowly overcoming it. i have started to read trading in the zone and it seems to be a good book. does not try to force indicators and systems down your throat and looks more at the mental aspect of trading

Hi guys,

I am glad that many of you found it useful! Exactly, Christiansan - I learned a lot while preparing this document and I am happy that I could provide others with a shortcut to master Arjun's great contributions.

Metalman, I have used the FF search tool, then selected all Arjun's postings with attachments and moved one by one to Microsoft Word. Finally I used the Adobe Acrobat's Word extension (You need a pro version) and created a pdf file.

one of the examples: this is the trade i've missed. but look at the drop during low volume time and how the divergence is being made. angle of the divergence is very important too.

here's 15 min chart and 1hr chart with nice angle of divergence.

it is not your job or duty to take care of us in the forum. your family and your own pursuit of happiness comes first. i apologize in the name of all my brothers that we take so much time of your precious life that you are wasting on us. spend more time with your son and your wife. people that love you and that you can see, touch, know they're real.

believe me when i say that we are thankful for every second you are with us but it should not be at the expense of your own happiness.

please everyone, do not take brother arjun for granted. he is one of the kindest beings we ever came across...be grateful for his presence...and respect that he has a life outside this forum too. like we all do.
