Thanks FXPivots. This is a great thread with great contributions from many others! This is one of the trading styles that I like and suits my personality.

This is my first post; but like many before me, I've been lurking a while, and lost plenty of cash, so I take this much more serious now. Oddly though, I was pretty hot at the beginning, but the more serious I take Forex, the more I lose! What's the deal with that? I was up 40%+ and now down close to 100%.

Anyway, I really like this system so I come back to read and re-read with the lights turning on and getting a little brighter each time.

If my question is in this thread, I apologize for missing it .... What are you using to determine the trend on the 5M chart? Are you looking at the current screen in front of you (that is what I am beginning to think), the last x# of 5M candles, or going ahead to 1H or 4H or???

Also, I am with Oanda and long story short, I need to use their charting in FX trade which can be lack luster. I am using line, but "close" is not an option. I have "bid", "ask" or "average" prices. I have been using "average", but I can see why you use closing, and how it would be more beneficial. With that in mind, which of my available options do you think would be best instead of closing? I'm curious as to what your 2 cents/pips are on this? Maybe I am just over analyzing that part?

don welcome if you go to oanda and put chart on bid price up comes a line chart and the closed bid price is located on the bottom left. Now the best thing to do is get a ibfx demo and look for patterns there and when you find them find the time from ibfx and look for it on oanda. As finding trends just look at all the charts i have already posted and heres 1 more this ones from june so you can see this is not a new thing. everything is done on this chart.

I started going back through the thread focusing more on the images and some lights started to go off. I'm starting to see how you spot it over the short term. I'm thinking I'm gonna print all images in the thread and carry them around like a book. haha

I'll take the suggestion and start comparing the patterns on both platforms.

Hi i would like to share a few thoughts with the newbies as well as the oldies. If you have a method that can generate a very high win rate and you only need 7 wins a month to generate a sustainable income, you should pay attention. Lets use the number 5000 as your starting stake and you get 20% a month well after 4 months your 5000 becomes 10000 after another 4 months it besomes 20000 and by the end of the year its 40000. So the question you ask is do i keep growing the acct or take the 20% every month? Well if you can live on 8000 a month( i dont see why not) then you can do just that. If you need more well then after another 4 months you'll have 80000 then your income can be 16000 a month. Forex trading should be a income based business not a try and get rich sceme. It must be sustainable. Well i have showed you how to trade by expalining the method, showing charts, money mangement and i even called live setups for you and you see them win in live time. I started reposting last month based on a wager i had with a friend of mine and it went like this. After analysing this and other forums i saw a consistent pattern. My friend said that if i showed them how to trade and show them charts and answer all their questions you would have a corner of the forex forum following you. I said that would never happen so i just won the wager of a whopping $1.00 and heres why i was right as he just conceded. Newbies and oldies as well (those who have been at it for quite some time with no success or even hope of any) come to this market with visions of granteur thinking they will make it big. After all what other business can you have where you can go to work in your underwear with no commute and work a couple of hours a day with no boss to hassle you is quite a reason to trade isnt it. But heres where lyes the problem, they have no training so they will self teach by reading a lot of books not that the books are bad but they are giving you just the basics and you want to know how to put on successful trades. So they take the next step and that they come to the forums for answers whether its this forum or others and they scan every system out there and once it doesnt work and again i will use the opertive word SUSTAINABLE they go on to then next great system, magic indicators, etc.So look yourself in the mirror and ask this question: Am i making consistant money every month or not? If not stop doing what your doing and try something else. There have been a few that have chimed in with questions charts and few even understand how to trade now but everyday there are between 25 and 40 that come and then move on without even a hello. I haved decided i will not talk to myself i already know how to trade and am making a sustainable income. I have already collected on my enormous wager of $1.00 so i will stop posting. Man this is nice! For the first time I feel like I got a trade with some reason behind it. With my other method it was 1/2 reason and 1/2 gambling.

I was making the Oanda tweak and saw a drop starting at 4:40pm. I decided to watch it seeing what happens and that played out perfectly (to me) ! At this moment it doesn't look like a full 15 p's but it was cool to watch and train the eye! (Wait -there it goes some more, it looks like 15 is coming)

Fricken awesome! I am totally geeked now! I'm at work and don't have any imaging software otherwise I'd post a picture, but I am 100% this is what we want. Is this totally picture perfect or what? (EU 4:40-5:55pm)

I made zero cash on this, but to watch it is totally priceless!!!! I think that was worth all my loses right there!

Hey - If you want company in the sense of asking questions, I can easily do that. After getting spooked out of a sizeable (for me) chunk of capital ($7,500k) I decided to find something solid. That last trade turned out to be a winner, but I used too much leverage and got spooked. While I thought I knew what I was doing, the hard truth is that I was 50% gambling.

Right now I am starting back with 5k and going to take the 20%. I'm over the getting rich quick and thinking of this as a business, for the reasons that there is no product overhead, no capital, I can work when I want, and where I want etc...

My point being ... stick around please. I think there are a lot of people lurking and digesting it. I was doing that for about a month. I have little to contribute because I have just now learned enough from failures to have a foundation moving forward. For example watching that one trade in my earlier post... I resisted temptation to hop in too late.

I was going to respect your time, but if you want a following, instead of looking back to find the answer, I will just ask it... How do you come to 7 trades a month? You mentioned this in an early post, but I was going to look for the answer before asking again. Is it 7 because that is what you need, and it exercises finding only the primo trades or is that all there is on these set ups? If there are more, and let's say you wanted to trade, how many set ups like this could you find a day? Not in all pairs, but let's say the majors?


After a month of lurking on this thread; I just had this finally click. I've read the whole thread up to page 20 then in chunks here and there. I read chunks of 5 pages about 10+ times.

I then took a break and couldn't get away from knowing that the 5M was for me, so I came back to read again, and hopefully more lights turn on and they did.

Ok I can start rambling, so let me get to the point again... don't go disapearing! :-)

That sucks, i rather enjoyed coming to this thread as it was always active during my trading session. It felt good to see someone else in the exact same 5 minute trades as me or at least saw it how i see it. None of my friends or family quite understand what i do and i sometimes want to reflect with them about my trades but they don't really understand what i talk about nor do i want to persuade them to get interested in trading (as some are quite irresponsible) but oh well. I've personally never read a thread so many times or spent so much time in one 'place'. The system seemed so simple, yet I just didn't have the success (more wins than losses is all I'm wanting) that I expected. It was embarrassing to post, because I just felt like an idiot, but I did it anyway. I think I've made good progress, but not quite there yet... anyway, I'll keep at it on my own. Phik, Goodlookin, Snail, anyone... would you care to keep trying together, sharing ideas?

I'm not intersted in signal service, free or paid, yours or someone else's. Though I'm sure you'll do really well with people signing up for that. If you were to continue what you're doing now, in a paid forum, I'd be interested. Like a few others, I did value what you were doing. DonYe? Not sure you'll be back. DOn't know your trading platform, but just wanted to say... in stead of line chart on closing prices, you could put a 1 day simple moving avg of close, and that will give you the same as line chart on close.

Another thing, your question about 7 trades. I think this is what fx meant:

Risk 3% on each trade. Only pick the best. So gain on a trade is also 3% since SL = TP. Then if you make 3% times 7 trades per month, that is phenomenal. I think his point was you don't have to overtrade, be picky.

If I understand correctly, you won the bet because not enough people were involved in the thread. Not a big enough following. Not sure I'm reading it correctly, but that's how it seems. If you had huge following... you'd have lost, but not enough interest, so you won.

Well, maybe you used the wrong way to measure success on the bet. Maybe you lost after all. Maybe the level of interest from the people that were following you outweighed the lack of interest from so many that are chasing the elusive robot to trade FOR THEM or a signal service. Maybe they'll join your signal service, so you'll get their interest after all.

I'm not sure why I'm taking this so personally. Of course it's not my business.
