so i would ask him does it take luck to keep it are does it take smart thinking on how to keep it and grow it. it all boils down to a person way of thinking thats makes a person rich, if you went to a town with a population of 5 thousands with 3 thousands cars and there was no gas stations and the locals had to drive 25 miles to the gas station, what would you think?

Well whatever scratches your cards, I'm sure sensei would be proud of you. I agree that preparation is quite important, but you know what? As long as the checkout girl never asks me how I made the money I am coughing up, does it matter if it's skill or luck or a bit of both?

see me and you think diffrent, me i would consider being the 1st gas station in town, thats how most rich people think never pass up an opp to make a buck

We all know what the answer would be from most people,heck if you don't feel something's for you then guess what? It Certainly is not

PT, I knew that was on your mind I just didn't take the bait so to speak.
I think reality can be a bit more complicated than just pop up a tent and start pumping petrol. If it's a remote town, you're not there to keep an eye on your workers, if you don't know anyone locally, and if you don't know much about the petrol pumping biz, then yes you might have to pass. And funnily, this is where LUCK comes into picture. It's not skill, to happen to know someone there, someone you can trust or who can help you.

I'd disagree with quite a few of the quotes, especially about "average" people don't follow their passions, but rich people do? So if every person whose passion was writing, art, fishing etc they'd all end up rich? It's highly unlikely.

Also, i'd say it's inherently wrong to determine people as 'Average" and "Rich" just because you don't have money wouldn't make you "Average". Some people genuinely don't care enough about money to want to be Rich, and other people don't care about anything else other than being Rich...

Not really (IMHO). How many borrowers went on to become lenders? This might entail thoughts regarding venture capital firms.

And those who sell assets may choose to finance (lend) the sale which could even result in a better price. Lenders only for a time.

And there are those who are neither lender nor borrow. This could be a "freeloader" who lives off societies generosity or someone who inherited substantial wealth and simply wants to live life (uncomplicated).

People bring comfort education, food shelter and health care. Money is just an easier way of keeping track of who should do what. As for peace of mind and happiness... no I don't think so. If it did then entrepreneurs and the folks on Wall Street would be saints. Peace of mind and happiness have to do more with self mastery than anything external. As for sex, if you have to pay for it you probably aren't that happy.

can't say thats true because those same lenders become borrowers when it comes to buying homes and stuff like that.

True. You and Slim are right. I should have elaborated. I've found that once people have a large amount of debt that is unsustainable long term, they keep on borrowing. the thinking is that "whats another $1000 on the mortgage, lets have a holiday". Some people, once they have paid off their large debt are quite happy to do it again, as they are used to it.
I'm all for borrowing if it is to be put to good use.

I've seen that happen time and time again.

I also recall the way in which my parents "came up, financially speaking". They started as borrowers and turned it into....
Hint; not a new TV or even a new car.

I can only say that instant gratification was not the buzzword.
