How difficult to make 10 pips every day with only one hour trading?

If i were you, i wouldn't set an expectation of anything like this, its good to have goals and its good to try to progress towards something, but there are days i don't even make a trade, sometimes even a week or two, if you set up a goal like "i want 10 pips a day" when the end of the day comes and you didn't get those 10 pips, you will over trade, or try to fit in a trade that makes no sense just to get those 10 pips, and more than likely end up losing, i would just try to find a true and experienced mentor, finish reading baby pips, its really a good site, and then trade what you SEE not what you expect, and the pips and balance will take care of itself ^^ Have a great day!

I would also like to add something some of the experienced traders have missed. Some days are not good for trading and likewise, some hours are not good for trading.

Therefore, it follows that trying to make 10 pips per day is setting yourself up for failure. Forex is a game of confidence. Take the wins and the inevitable losses and look to see what your average is - the running average. Then try to improve that.

I had me to this "target". Than I have converted converted to % of gain. I few days I could kept.

If you look here you can see how is doing somebody very well, with a nice, live account. Except he had bad moments right now.

There are 10 pip strategies, but there are 2 problems with those: or you will use no SL and let your account be wiped once, maybe in 3 week, or 6 , who knows... or you will use 10 or 5 PIP SL, but than you are trading noise, which is a kind of casino. The spread it will be the biggest enemy.

Right now I am not playing, I will again, but my preference it is: - i can't say trading plan-

I am checking before London open what I will expect for that day: are there Red news are in my currency (in this site) and is Monday ( low volatility) or is Wednesday ( reverse week direction 1) or Friday( reverse week direction 2) or is New year + / - 2 wek or is August.

Based on those info "I know" the Eur/Usd will move very probably in both ways at least 50-50 pip at least, well sometimes 30 down and 80 up, sometimes 80-160 whatever, depends on Day, and Month.

When I have set my expected direction and distance, than I am looking for an entry point. That could be right now, because it is fulfilled the order for sure, or if there is a major news releases, than I would like to wait and be after the spike.

Although I am using an ECN account, I still don't like to trade the news spike for my past experience ( and knowledge accumulated, there are plenty of other opportunities for me)

I don't really like the entry points because if is filled and I am not at my PC I can't see the market sentiment and maybe happent than, somebody spoke and the market is going in inverse direction, so if I can I will enter @ market price.

The SL if is to close, I can't go with "trend", because I am stopped out soon.
if the SL is to high, than I have to big drawdown if I am unlucky 2-3x continuously.
If the TP is to close, than I can't pay the stop loses, if is larger, than I pay overnight commission and I am risking to be a losing trade which almost hit the TP limit.

I am trying to catch the 2nd or the 3 wave maybe the 4th from Elliot waves, if I see it is trending. I am trying to get out at top when is starting to go to sideway or lost the steam the daily push.

Before news releases sometimes it is moving only 2-5 pip /h, not so smart, but I am risking with higher volume, my broker like those trades...but get out of that volume before news release. Keep in attention: "buy the rumos, sell the news".

At market openings-closings you can scalp for 10 pips at 30 sec charts, I have tryed and bored with that random moves.

I feel anything under 50 pip is just for feeding my broker: 1-2 pip spread + 1.2 pip commission is to high for 10 TP and 10 SL.

To many cases to write a plan and follow the plan, and I do believe I can't test the "plan" because the market is changing...I see setups, which was woking nicely 2 years ago, but like 1 years ago can't use it.

News + technical + sentiment are driving the market, so any pure technical indicator or automated stuff I do believe is not for me. Also is a bit hard for me yet to determine what of those 3 is the most powerfully at that moment and driving at the market and how many power has still to lead.
Sometimes I win sometimes I lose, the only one this what it matters : how much have you lost vs how much have you won.

Don't set your goal this way. If only oneday, you dont get this goal, you will overtrade or you win 20 pips, and you want more...all bad things start!

Making 10 pips is not very difficult. The difficult part is doing it everyday on a consistent basis. No matter how good you are, there will be a day when everything just goes against you.

Setting a goal based on pip gains isnt really good, especially a daily goal. What if you run into a day where there is no good trade setup, will you take a trade just to make your 10pip goal? You should just take what the market gives you and learn to sit out when there are no good setups.

A lateral response to your question would be to trade that hour that you would like around the london open and ny open sessions. Say you ended up after the research and development that you'd still like to make 10 pips in an hour, trading during those TIMES specifically will be your best bet to do it You might even come out with more than 10 on a good day
