Indicator that shows net exposure?

Hello , is there any indicator that would show how much money is currenty placed on short / long possitions ? I remember fxcm had something like that , so does it excist on mt4 platform ?

It's included by default in MT4, in the custom indicator's section.

That might be what you're looking for...

I'm looking for an indicator that shows how much millions is on the particular pair . FXCM had something like that . Maybe someone remembers ?

The spot market isn't centralized, so that info isn't really available... sure, a broker might be able to put up their own client's stats, but you'd only be looking at a (extremely small) fraction of the market as a whole.

Or maybe I'm not fully understanding you.. could you post a link or screen shot of the FXCM tool you're describing?

I don't have account with them , i saw few years ago that they had something like that , i will try to open demo and see if i can found it

Hi LeanLowFx,

It sounds like you might be talking about the Speculative Sentiment Index (SSI). FXCM account holders can click here to see the latest SSI readings updated twice a day on the DailyFX PLUS site. Those who don't have an FXCM account can see the latest SSI readings once a week, every Thursday on DailyFX.com.

We don't have an MT4 indicator for SSI at this time, but we created a similar indicator for MT4 based on the Commitment of Traders Report (COT). This report shows the amount of open interest on currency futures traded on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. COT shows how many traders are long or short a particular currency pair. This COT MT4 indicator pulls data directly from the CFTC website and plots it directly below an MT4 chart in an easy to read format.

Yes that is what i was looking for (SSI), thanks. What about COT its only good for long term trading or to get a view of what big money is doing , COT report have 3 days delay so it can be misleding on choppy markets ,i tryed COT indicator , but for me at least is better to look at naked numbers to get a better view of long/short changes .

Hi LeanLowFx,

You make a good point about COT. With SSI, the information is up-to-date at the time it is published twice a day on DailyFX PLUS. I'll post here on the forum if we ever create an SSI indicator for FXCMapps.com.

Similar and used similarly from Oanda (both often used as contrarian indicators is: https://www.oanda.com/forex-trading/...osition-ratios . Oanda has enough clients to make it a significant indicator and it is updated with greater frequency.
