Hi, If I am running two different EA's both on the SAME currency pair on Two seperate charts but I only have one EA with a magic number do I need to have the other EA coded with a magic number too? Or will both EA's work as long as I have a magic number on one EA? Thanks for any feedback. Fritz

I am newbie to the EA programming. But, I think the EA without magic number may hanlde ALL open orders for the currency it is trading, because it does not (and cannot) know which orders were placed by itself. So, I think it is better to have magic numbers on both. May be someone with more experice will correct me, if I am wrong.

Thanks for this but my question is more to the point of do I NEED to add a magic number to the second EA. I would not do the coding myself even with simple directions. Anyone else? Thanks, Fritz

Magic number is to help the EAs avoid confliction. If your EAs do not conflict with each other in different circumstances and you are quite sure about that don't make changes to your EAs. If they do, then you need to fix the problem probably by adding a magic number to the second EA and some checkpoints that eliminate the risk of confliction.

I agree. It's hard to tell from your question whether you've coded the EA's to not conflict with each other. On the second EA, you would need to add code that states that if there is a magic number, don't mess with it. Then, there will be no conflict. Otherwise, I think the second EA will manage all trades whether or not there is a magic number.

If I am running the same EA on several different pairs on the same instance of MT4, do I need to have a different magic number for each pair?

If the EA is well coded, no. As to what well coded is I'm not sure as i'm no coder, but EA's certainly can be used on multiple pairs with no problems with the same magic number if done right.

Hi all,
I am a silent member on this absome forex forum since long.....just gain a lot of here....& practing on my demo account.
now i have a couple of question regarding MagicNumber.....can u people tell me more about that..
I have a simple EA & i want to run it on maximum differences pairs in my single account with open a single position when EA got trick.
or say i must run a ea in single account with diferrane pairs with same setting with maximum open trade is 1 only.

can any body help me out for the same.

Hard to answer your question, because it depands on how the EA was written. Perhaps you shoul ask the coder or your broker.

Hi to everybody, I know that this thread is old, but I've a question regarding the magic number.
Pratically I would like to know if there is a way to know the magic number of a trade if this one is hidden (by the ea).
is there an indicator, script, something else to know it?

Let the EA place a trade (on demo) and hover your mouse over the trade comments in the terminal trade tab. It will show 'placed by EA' and also display the magic number if there is one.
