This is just an update to the original thread along with a poll.
I'm still liking the improvments to the explorer, and the site in general. I see there are options when creating new threads to quality control replies and link in trade explorers, and these are welcomed.
Reviewing the original thread and the points made in post 6, I'm wondering if they are still valid and relevant. These in particular:
* remember all that nonsense with 1kt and the trading room? you could have "profitable member" or "real trader" badges earned by submitting live accounts that have a track record of at least 3 months, a certain number of trades and a minimum ratio score (ff ratio anyone?)
I think the site is slowly moving in this direction by using vouches. I still think a more objective measure would be to use real accounts however.
* all commercial members submitting live accounts so that everyone has a better idea of who to trust before they sign up and pay. they would have to demonstrate their techniques for at least 3 or 6 months on a (small) live mt4 account (that perhaps mirrors their actual trades). all testimonials replaced by live accounts to show that their teaching methods work.
i still stand by this completely. those with < 3 month statement could be "under evaluation". those with a rolling 3 month profitable statement could earn their badge. an additional ranking system would make this even more useful (see post 5)
* a way of filtering threads by profitable traders (see earlier point), so that you can better evaluate what is worth reading
i think this is similar to the first point, but having more usable tools to screen threads and posts would be bonus. the first and third points could be applied to commercial members to a lesser degree
the example given was mostly just an implementation issue
* FF could perhaps expand this service into a recruiting tool for the industry, matching up long term profitable traders with acceptable risk profiles to those looking for potential cta's or fund managers
this would be a natural consequence of applying more intelligent quality control across the forum and leaderboard, with FF acting as a renumerated broker if they wish.
So the poll is naturally a distillation of the points above, updated from an earlier thread. I can see plenty of benefits with little or no risk, except for implementation costs, assessed against scheduled work, or work in progress.
Let FF know your thoughts...
