The whole worlds banking system is joined at the hip - if the Euro goes down the dollar won't be far behind. Indeed the only reason the dollar looks good atm is because the Euro looks so bad.

The main industry in Spain is tourism(BTW) followed by fishing, clothing and construction?? I think.

Spain? Construction? You mean that bubble? As for clothing, I have never seen anything from Spain - ours are all from either Central America or Asia. Could be for the continentals though. And for fish....well, that isn't exactly a modern economy.

Where in the hell does Real Madrid get all of their money then?

U r right spain is a basket case but most of it's current problems are directly related to it's Euro membership.

The construction boom was fueled by cheap money from Europe - The EU killed it's fishing industry - and adopting the Euro killed tourism.

Yep Spain is a basket case - bit like the rest of Europe.

What Spain needs is a weaker currency - just like the rest of Europe.

I have a friend that I went to high school with that owns a hotel in Zahara, Spain and he would LOVE to see the Peseta come back. Most of his guests aren't Spanish, and he says that the last ten years have been good - but not like the 5 before it. A cheap currency could bring back many more tourists.

Having said that - he is probably hammered right now - celebrating his second homeland's victory. Someone needs to step up and take out the Spanish - it's not going to be Portugal though.....

For my part I'm mostly hoping that England gives the Italian cry-babies a well deserved return ticket to their illegal betting shops back home.

Absolutely wonderful if Balotelli would tear a ligament or such so I don't have to see his ugly face for a long time.

Yeah, I am for England too......I have always liked the Dutch (hence the name "clockwork") and the English.

However, I think the Germans are probably best suited to give the Spanish a run for their money. We will see though - this is why we play the games and not decide them on paper.....

Fair result. Mercifully the Lions get knocked out in the Penalty shoot out. I can only imagine what the Germans are going to do to Italy after this match, and only 2 days rest.

Neither one of these teams are good enough at the moment to beat Germany. Overall, I think it was a fair result - even though I don't like it.....the Italians were a bit better.

Very true..I thought we were completely outclassed Its very frustrating to watch players that when relaxed and in there comfort zone playing in the premiership seem.......well.....better ??. its been the same for an age.
