Gaps everywhere. It will be interesting to see how long this lasts, and there are still a lot of issues - especially the Greek elections next Sunday. I get this feeling I will be selling EUR somewhere around the Weds/Thurs changeover.

You Know That Chris Post Oct 08 has been a pain in the *rse, you have to be "on it" at all times..Bring back some good "ole" bull years,
low volatile trending markets.... The Montecristo's ( cigars )are starting to collect dust in the draw..lol

I started learning to trade in 2008. I have no idea what normalcy is. LOL. To me it seems like it's going to be extremely boring.

P.S. Now looks like a good opportunity to finally jump on the FB bandwagon. Friday's close > 27.10 is a bullish signal to me, with the risk of course being the current lows. I haven't played equities in some time... should get back into that for some several week swings.

I know what you mean. I forget that a lot of the traders I talk to have no idea what a normal market looks like. Believe it or not, there was once a point where you could just buy USD/JPY and add every couple of days to make a ton of money......

I started in 2005, but didn't really get very active in trading until 2008. Markets like these really teach a trader how important Money Management is. I would love it if we could get back to normal trending markets. I would imagine boring is profitable!

Just a lot slower movements I imagine. Personally for me, since I learned in this environment, i'm use to slinging price left and right, and expecting a blowout any direction. You are correct, it definitely forced an understanding of money management when in an instant price could be for or against you 100 pips.

I know I got eaten alive several different times during my first couple of years.

I agree. After awhile you do get use to the crazy swings. Who knows, maybe this is the new normal. We can make money in any market. That's the beauty of trading. Although we can lose money as well. hopefully not as often.

It's exactly the same for me as for Venice. I started demo trading just before the crash in fall of 2008.

However, what I wonder is, will there ever be a return to the pre 2008 market structures? I have a feeling that the post 2008 situation is here to stay, permanently.

Markets are cyclical, absolutely the markets will regain the confidance and the low volatile trending markets will return, along with all the other market enviroments....The question everyone wants to know is when , Since the 1920's financial markets are continually changing to the different global environments.....repeating the same cycles over and over again..

Trust me..... you could not have picked a better time to learn to navigate the markets, if you can learn to "hold your own" in the current environments just imagine when confidence resumes, you will find it easier to assess your trading environment and trade it..

Although difficult, these are the perfect times for education.....You wouldn't want it too easy would you : )

Look at how the investment banks, hedge funds, Money managers are doing at the moment. Most of them are having a bad time, struggling..The big question is when is the current bull-sh*t problems going to be sorted...

BTW, I thought the England V France was poor, we played poor.....1-1 I am happy with the draw....

Well, England at least got a draw. Sweden might as well just have stayed home. Pathetic, almost ashamed to be Swedish after this joke of a performance. Wouldn't surprise me if we finish last in the group tbh.

Look how close Italy now is to the magic 7% limit where it is considered that a state can no longer finance itself sustainable in the free markets. Now that Spain has capitulated and asked for help, it will be very interesting to see what happens with Italy's bond rates. If they start creeping up toward 7% that may be the final nail in the euro coffin.

Bailing out Spain may turn out to be more than Germany and the others can manage, bailing out Spain AND Italy is impossible.
