Although I've been trading live with success I have done some backtesting today. In 2010 there were 8 signals on eurusd. I have used the strategy tester on the hourly for the days after the daily signal and just taken the first trade and held it until the 100 sma is breached.

The first signal was on the 15/1/10. This I couldn't test because my hourly data doesn't go back that far but the daily suggests it would have been a small win.

18/3/10 +188 pips
5/4/10 -19 pips
16/4/10 +169 pips
3/5/10 +291 pips
26/8/10 No valid hourly trade before the...
That is awesome and encouraging that one pair ! .... I am hoping that we can find one trend to trade a week and that we can average us 250 PIPs a week....... That's not too much to ask is it ?

Lol, no, I suppose not. I would expect to get at least 2 or 3 really good trends per month with the other being no trades, small losses, break evens or modest gains. It's patience that's key.
Big gaps on eurgbp and eurcad so no trade today. I've got usdjpy long open still after the trendline break and that gapped up

I'll update if anything happens, if not see you tomorrow/Tuesday morning.
The movements seems very volatile (lots of long wicks and shadows all over my charts) - I am not excited to take up a position yet....

anyone see anything in the pairs you watch?

HB, is right time to be patient....
I'm long the AUD/JPY from late Friday when it broke out of the congestion and am up 100 and very tempted to take profit but I'll try Ted's exit strategy trailing behind the 100 sma by 20.

I can't lose anthing at this point but I'm getting a little mouse-happy here watching the bottom line.

Seriously though, the stochastics on the weekly, daily and 4 hourly seem to be well aligned and this tells me there is a good chance this could run for a while.

I'm sure an ea could be made that would detect a stoch cross and ha change away from the 100 sma but it wouldn't be able to determine the quality of the signal. Not all crosses and turns look nice to trade.

I was lucky to be in Gbp/Chf, Gbp/Usd, Eur/Jpy and Usd/Cad from last week, took some profit as the gaps may close.
Got closed out for a loss on Eur/Gbp as I was short.

I am going to let the dust settle before looking for any new positions as many could retrace to pre gap levels, Cad/Chf has already.

Thank you Hugh for your division and with all the other members who advance this system, I think that your system can be very advantageous if one is disciplined and that one observes the rules.
I would like you ask whether the “trailing stop ea” can function on several pairs at the same time (I think that yes).
I will test this strategy today if there are the conditions to take a position.

Yes, just attach the ea to every chart that you want to use it on.

I would say that nothing is setting up today unless you fancy getting long usdjpy and that's not a system trade.

Most pairs are pulling back quite smoothly at the moment so there should be some nice moves coming quite soon. Until then I am sitting on my hands.

USD/JPY is on D1 resistance. It is to better await except if one is suicidal.
What think of EUR/GBP? W1 and D1 Resistance were touched but the stoch is in bottom on H1 and the candle is not closed yet. It may be that it is good to take in the course of the day

Everything still seems to be in flux - seems like every pair that looks good one the H1 the D1 is showing a different story -

I'm waiting until something provides a good setup on the daily before I even look at the hourly charts. Something big will set up before long and we'll be banking big pips. Until then best to be patient.

Usdjpy gave a nice long signal but I'm in it already so leaving this one.

Just read your pdf final version and like it very much.

I think the secret to this system is the dual timeframe signal and waiting for the first 1hr pullback to complete before entering in direction of the trend.

Then just add once your risk from first trade is at break even or like you say just keep adding but keep the total risk the same. But even better if first trades stop is at break even or better.

Would you keep adding on every pullback under the 100 sma or for a definately nos say the first 3 pullbacks only?

The beauty of this system is to add when you've got it right so making big winners and cut out quick with a small loss when price goes against you. Of course you never know which daily stoch cross is going to follow through or which following 1 hr stoch cross will either so have to just take the signals as they come and see what happens.

I Will be attempting a similar system on a 1 min chart using my favourite indicator the CCI. Will follow your example and start a thread shortly once I have had some success.

Great system and thread, keep up the good work.
