Only difference from years past is trades are now done directly instead of through them to gain/forex com.

thanks suntrader... just to clarify... is market depth is available for tradestation (with respect to forex trading)?

Market depth is available but it only shows three price levels/sizes and really doesn't offer much guidance like in futures/stocks with much more levels and broker detail etc.

I trade over hours to days so personally have no need for it.

Hi SunTrader. I'm thinking about opening an acct with them. Just some questions: So TS is not an IB for Gain anymore, right ? Is TS an ECN or an STP broker ?

just some sayings from an experienced trader to you new guys about broker models, I traded forex live for about 4 years and I tried all sorts of broker models. ECN,s STPs and DD, ECN is to hyped in my opinion, my honest experience with ECN vs STP, live trading, has been that transparent trading is good for sure, but you have to pay dearly for it, I think STP is much better and cheaper even though they mark up the spread, it is very hard to make money with ECNs especially if you are scalping small pips because the commision will slowly eat you up, I had to switch strategy to swing and position trades at my current ECN to be able to get a head, for a ECN-scalper it will be something like 5 or 6 successful trades and 2 stopouts and you are suppriced cause you are still minus on your acount for the day, Im trading at both a well known ECN and a STP broker now, the STP is a lot cheaper than the ECN, probably atleast half price per round turn, and I understnad Tradestation is even cheaper than that because the spreads are better than my current STP. had a very pleacant time trading at STPs so Im very much looking forward to use Tradestation as my new broker. they are a well known and respected broker been around for a long time with probably the best platform around, there is no requotes or any other intervening from a dealing desk with STPs which will allow you to trade freely and use any methods of choise just like with ECNs only cheaper . with TS you get a professional platform and low spreads, no comissions for Fx, can't get much better than that. I think it is a good oportunity to open a acount with TS and work your acount up, then you can start to trade futures and stocks and even options and more from the same platform. Im in no way affiliated with TS, I just wanted to write a few lines of my thoughts as some of you where wondering about ECNs. Cheers

hey guys, so i just called the tradestation helpline... and heres what i've got

1) they told me that they are an ECN broker (strange ha? #1 said they were stp), don't know who to believe now

2) they do not offer demo or trail, because apparently, he says that tradestation has enough clout...

3) if you do not like their platform, you can close the account anytime... but note that there will be a 20usd charge for each withdrawal

4) if you are an international client, they will mail you a form to fill up, and you have to send it back to them... but they will arrange and pay for it through the local fedex..

5) from the date of account opening, you have 1 year to fund your account...

that's all...!

also if they where an ECN they would most certanly have commision but they don't
whoever you talked to he obviously don't know what he is talking about, probably just a sales rep.
it'¨s possible they use ECN on their other instruments but on Fx no

My sales rep also said they are an STP. The do not take commission's or bet against you.

Yes I know, STPs are fine to trade with, they don't mess with your trades at all, all you pay is the spread betwen bid and ask, there is no comission.

I have not been trading at all with TS yet, Im still waiting for my acount to be approved, however I know how STPs work since I traded at other brokers using the STP model, no names mentioned

LOL! All brokers will say that even oanda.

My account is approved with TS since last week but the check from FXsol is still not here. Actually Fxsolutions had the nerves to send me a check from somebody else, unreal !

I divided my account in 40-60% to protect myself against oanda's disconnections ( back when I used to trade with them), but now with this delay from FXsol I see another advantage of working with 2 brokers. If I had just one account I would be stuck without being able to trade.

I'm really curious to see how TS will behave as a broker. As soon as the money is here I'm gonna drive to their office here in Plantation and I will post about my first impressions.

It was in contrast to a posters comment that his rep said they were an. ECN. I have had enough accounts to know which is which myself and know who is full o' crap. But I expect to be satisfied.

I am not sure they have it on their site. They are like a middle man for the banks, which is closer to an ECN, but they do not have commissions which can slow down the process a bit. They have their profit in the spreads, which is closer to am STP. So they're really a tweeter imo. But check these out.
