Talking about satan, i too have a story to tell
During the Song Dynasty in China, Su Dongpo, a famous scholar & Zen Master Fo Yin were good friends. They like to poke fun at each other.
One day both of them had a sitting meditation session together at Golden Mountain Temple.
After a while, Su Dongpo opened his eye and asked Fo Yin:
"How do I look in meditation?"
"Very magnificent. Like a Buddha!"
Su Dongpo was delighted to hear that.
Master FoYin then asked him, "Scholar, what do you think of my sitting posture then?"...

eyes can only see, the mind needs interpetes that we see.
If things looks bad is because of our ram (ramdom access memory) aka short term memory. Can be also because of our harddisk, due to storage of bad long term experiences.
